Dr. Daniel Mass answered:

I had surgery for a broken arm..how long until i can get better?

6-16 weeks

Arm_fracture
If you had surgery on your forearm the fracture should be healed in 6-8 weeks. The upper arm takes 12-16 weeks. If the surgery gives stable fixation you can use your arm after a couple of days for eating, writing and typing.

How painful is surgery to fix a broken arm?

Variable

Forearm_fracture
what type of fracture? Does it need surgery? Although our surgical interventions have progressed significantly surgery is still surgery... that being said pain control after arm/upperextremity surgery tends not to be horrible. Most of my patients have pain for 3-4 days and then are off narcotics.

Dr. Michael Stern answered:

How long do broken arms with surgery take to heal in 12 year old boy?

Too hard to tell

Surgery
Unfortunately it is too complex to be able to answer. The healing takes place faster in bones of younger people, especially kids. The reason it becomes hard to give you an answer is because there are many factors including what surgery he had and the reasons he had it. I would suggest talking to the surgeon or asking for a second opinion if you feel the need for another opinion

6 weeks

Extremity-upper-hand
I'm not exactly sure what type of surgery you had, but in general most wounds have healed and inflammation has resolved in 6 weeks.

I broke my upper arm near to my elbow 24 days ago its a big fracture so I had a surgery and got 2 plates in. So how long does it take to heal. ?

6-8 wks for the bone

Nursemaids_elbow
This is a difficult fracture to treat. With rigid fixation and compression, the fracture should heal within 6-8 weeks. Usually motion is begun during the fracture healing process, with loss of extension being common. Expect full healing to take 6 months or more.

How long can a severely pinched nerve from cervical surgery and loss of use of arm take to heal after surgery before nerve becomes permanent damage?

Long term

Open-uri20130416-14171-k82d6e
nerves can be damaged very quickly and can take years to repair themselves,, unfortunately, sometimes no recovery takes place from my experience ,if recovery occurs there is some evidence of improvement in first 2-3 months after injury
