It's due to release : Of histamine and other chemicals. Remove stinger asap by scraping along edge of skin w credit card. Clean area w soap ; warm water. Apply ice in 10 min. Increments (10 on/10 off). Can try tylenol, (acetaminophen) Aspirin or Motrin for pain. For swelling – elevate affected area. Benadryl helps w swelling /itching. See your doctor: This may still be a normal local reaction to the bee sting, especially if you just pulled the stinger out. Reactions last longer when the stingers are left in. If the problem is persistent, then one needs to consider whether part of the stinger was left in the sting site. Not really : Your tissues are responding to toxic bee venom. If you were truly allergic you might have tightness of bronchial passageways within first few minutes & difficulty breathing. Apply an oatmeal paste for itching. Cold compresses will tend to reduce swelling. Hot shower might make swelling worse. Take otc tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen for discomfort. Elevate the arm.
