Took one single dose of Azithromycin, four 250mg pills for ureaplasmax. How long before cured or see symptoms reside?

More info needed: Ureaplasma is a normal bacteria in the genital tract, present in half of all people your age at any one time, and probably everyone has it sometimes. A positive test doesn't need treatment if no symptoms. Azithromycin has never been studied for Ureaplasma; no way to know if it would work. Single dose azithro is recommended only for chlamydia. Discuss with your doctor. Good luck! ...Read more

For how long is azithromycin effective in your body?

For how long is azithromycin effective in your body?

Two answers: Azithromycin in a single 500 mg dose has a half-life of 11–14 h. When multiple doses are taken it may increase to 68 h. For a 5 day course it should be present 10 days. Biliary excretion, predominantly unchanged, is a major route of elimination. Over a week, approximately 6% of the administered dose appears unchanged in urine. Efficacy is another subject. ...Read more

How long does it take for azithromycin to react in your body?

Not sure.: Not sure exactly what you mean. Azithromycin is an antibiotic. Blood levels rise and become effective against susceptible bacteria within about 30 minutes. However, in established infections there may not be improvement in symptoms noted for a few days. If the organism is not susceptible to Azithromycin there may be no improvement at all. ...Read more

How long till I can have unprotected sex after taking one dose (the two pills of azithromycin)? 7 days?

How long till I can have unprotected sex after taking one dose (the two pills of azithromycin)? 7 days?

It depends....: Assuming you were treated for chlamydia or a related problem like nongonococcal urethritis (NGU), it is ideal to wait 7 days. But if the partner with whom you are sharing this infection also has been treated, and if any symptoms are starting to improve, sex with each other shouldn't hurt anything. But for sure no unprotected sex with untreated or new partners until at least 7 days have passed. ...Read more

I took azithromycin in one big dose of 1g to cure nsu, how long before the medicine should have cleared the bacteria as I just had sex after 6 days?

I took azithromycin in one big dose of 1g to cure nsu, how long before the medicine should have cleared the bacteria as I just had sex after 6 days?

Should be OK: It is usually recommended to avoid sex for a week and until symptoms are completely gone, and 6 days is a bit early. However, azithromycin is very long acting; it remains in the system for almost 2 weeks after a single dose. So it is very unlikely you would be able to infect a partner. However, best to discuss with the doctor or clinic where you were treated. ...Read more

How long does it usually take for one dose of 1, 000 mg Azithromycin to clear up a RECTAL Chlamydia infection? I still have minor symptoms 11 days later after taking Azithromycin. Should I re-check?

How long does it usually take for one dose of 1, 000 mg Azithromycin to clear up a RECTAL Chlamydia infection? I still have minor symptoms 11 days later after taking Azithromycin. Should I re-check?

Seven days: You should not have sex again until you and your sex partner (s) have completed treatment. If your doctor prescribes a single dose of medication, you should wait seven days after taking the medicine before having sex. If your doctor prescribes a medicine for you to take for seven days, you should wait until you have taken all of the doses before having sex. I think you should get rechecked. ...Read more

I took one dose of azithromycin for chlamydia during my period. How long until my sprintec is effective again?

I took one dose of azithromycin for chlamydia during my period. How long until my sprintec is effective again?

Question is loss: While you were on antibiotics, the oc may have been rendered less effective, as you know. Like not taking oc at all. The antibiotic effect will most likely last 10-14 days. Therefore, you need back up contraception for the remainder of this cycle, assuming you don't get another course of antibiotics. ...Read more

How long can azithromycin be taken safely? [for long term treatment] if one has recurrent sinus +chest +throat infection in one go?

Months: There are certain chronic infections that are very difficult to treat, an dpeople can be on antibiotic regimens that include Azithromycin for over a year. People need to be monitored to make sure their white blood cells, liver, and kidneys are ok, but Azithromycin tends to be a relatively safe antibiotic. Took a 1 day dose of azithromycin, 500 mg. How long until its out of my system?

7-10 days: Azithromycin is very long acting. It will take 7-10 days to be entirely gone. But it's difficult to imagine what infection you were treating with this dose. Chlamydia is the only condition normally treated with single dose azithromycin, but the dose is 1 gram, twice what you took. If you are being treated for chlamydia, more treatment is needed. ...Read more

Azithromycin 250mg, I took the 1st dose which is 2 pills & then I took 1 pill the following day. How long will the medication stay in my system for?

Azithromycin 250mg, I took the 1st dose which is 2 pills & then I took 1 pill the following day. How long will the medication stay in my system for?

Half life 68 hours: We use the term "half life" to get an idea of how long a drug/medication will stay in a person's system. The half life is how long it takes for half of the medication to be metabolized. The half life of a single 500 mg dose of azithromycin is 68 hours. In 68 hours, 1/2 of that should be detectable. But then you have to factor in subsequent doses! So you can see, it hangs around for quite a while. ...Read more

I took my azithromycin 3 day pack then I'm waiting 4 days for the other 3 pills I have to take a day. Can I just take all 3 in one day?

I took my azithromycin 3 day pack then I'm waiting 4 days for the other 3 pills I have to take a day. Can I just take all 3 in one day?

No, take as directed: Your body is not able to absorb and/or store that much azithromycin at one time. Taking 3 tablets on the same day will be no better than just taking 1 tablet for 1 day. You should take this and all prescription medication as it is prescribed. There are good reasons that medication is prescribed in particular doses and duration. Even if these reasons are not always apparent. ...Read more

How do I get this horrible drug azithromycin out of my system took one 2 dose of 250mg yesterdsy at 4pm and I feel worse than from just being sick?

Your body: Will slowly metabolize (liver) and excrete it (in your feces and urine) over time. Though realize it has a long half life so it will take time. But also realize you may also be feeling worse due to your underlying illness and the progression may happen to have just coincided with starting the azithromycin. I wouldn't hesitate to contact your doctor if you continue to feel worse. Best of luck ...Read more

How long will Azithromycin stay in my system after the last dose?

Four days: Azithromycin has a long half life - which is both a blessing and a curse if you have side effects. The good news is, the medicine is quite well tolerated and is usually effective. If you are having side effects though, that could last for a little bit, because it won't clear out of your system right away. That's why the 'Z-pak' is only 5 days long - because it still works after the last pill. ...Read more

How long does azithromycin stay in your system for? I don't quite understand the half-life...

How long does azithromycin stay in your system for? I don't quite understand the half-life...

Several days: Azithromycin is very long acting. For this particular antibiotic, the drug is concentrated in tissues and "half life" (which usually means blood levels) isn't helpful. Tissue levels high enough to fight infection last for 7-10 days after a single dose, and smaller amounts might last 2-3 weeks or even longer. ...Read more

Taking azithromycin 1g one dose 2 weeks apart for suspected pid, is this enough?

PID treatment: Outpatient therapy of pid usually involves a single parenteral (intramuscular) dose of a third-generation cephalosporin (ceftriaxone) plus a two-week course of Doxycycline or azithromycin. Azithromycin is equally as effective as Doxycycline and is easier to tolerate, due to less frequent dosing. You should be taking one gram of Azithromycin weekly for two weeks. ...Read more
