Still have pain one year after episiotomy when I have sex?

Still have pain one year after episiotomy when I have sex?

Exam: The cause could be several things. You may have healed with a neuroma (a sensitive ball of nerves), or you may have incompletely healed leaving a scar, or you may have a fistula (a connection from the rectum to the perineum or vagina). All these should be determined in a pelvic exam. ...Read more

How soon after childbirth with an episiotomy can a woman have sex?

How soon after childbirth with an episiotomy can a woman have sex?

40-60 days: it really depend how bad the episiotomy is, first you have to allow enough time for the wound to heal, and that take up to 30 days ,could be more. second you have to give the uterus enough time to heal, and stop bleeding, and that take anyway between 30-40 days. third you have to give enough time for the cervix to completely close and become tight,to prevent any infection, last ask your doctor. ...Read more

38 yr. Marriage. One child. Extremely infrequent intercourse. Very painful sex w/blood. Gynecologist states episiotomy to blame. Any options for me?

Assuming it is not: From atrophic vaginitis which means vaginal thinning due to lack of estrogen in the vaginal tissue - that can cause all of your symptoms, and can be treated with low dose vaginal estrogen like Estrace (estradiol) cream, if it is really from episiotomy which is possible but not likely, the episiotomy can be redone with a minor surgery, you should go for a 2nd opinion before u would have that type of surgery. ...Read more

Yes: Have your GYN MD take a look at the area for scar tissue from the episiotomy when it healed. He/she may have to do a revision of the area if it is the only source of your pain which can be documented by pressure on certain points of the old scar. ...Read more

I had an episiotomy a month ago and dr said i could have sex after a month. No pain during sex why does it sting at the stitches after sex when i pee?

I had an episiotomy a month ago and dr said i could have sex after a month. No pain during sex why does it sting at the stitches after sex when i pee?

May be too soon: I typically recommend at least 6 weeks for sex after a tear on the vagina. I'm assuming your md examined you and felt the vagina was well healed. It stings at stitches because your urine is acidic and the area where your skin/vagina is still healing is sensitive to that acidity. The sex is likely causing some disruption to the vaginal lining, making a little raw. Let it heal and will do fine. ...Read more

Painful intercourse 2 years after episiotomy..Feels like being ripped again?

Painful intercourse 2 years after episiotomy..Feels like being ripped again?

Possibly scar tissue: I'm not sure if you have had persistent pain or if this just started to occur. If it has been persistent pain for two years, the pain is often related to scar tissue. If it's recent pain it may be due to an inflammatory process or an infection. No matter what you should be evaluated by your obgyn. ...Read more
