A good idea,,: It would be a good idea to take a supplement, however your level isn't too bad considering your h/o h. Pylori, which hopefully has been cleared up or at least treated. So you might want to see your doctor to get an idea of how much you should take. Not true: Calcium with vitamin d requirement increases in the elderly. Less exposure to sunlight and low dietary intake often leads to low levels of vitamin d and less calcium available to maintain the strength of bones. Depends: It depends on the reason why you are taking the calcium replacement. If you don't have bone problems (osteopenia/osteoporosis) or hypoparathyroidism (chronically low calcium on blood test) then you don't need to take calcium supplement and should get it from food such as dairy products.
