Can I get a tattoo to cover my defibrillator?

Can I get a tattoo to cover my defibrillator?

No: I'm not an electrical engineer, but I think it's a bad idea. If you insist, you may receive an inappropriate shock from your device. Even worse, it may be reprogrammed, so be sure to have it fully interrogated immediately afterward if you proceed to assure that you're fully protected. I'm in my 60s too so as one older man to another, consider discussing your self-image concerns with a counselor. ...Read more

Tattoo: There is no relation to taking oral antibiotics and the fading of a tattoo. However I take off a lot of tattoo's from people who change their mind about them. Got a tattoo had a kidney transplant 4 years ago was it okay to get one?

Got a tattoo had a kidney transplant 4 years ago was it okay to get one?

Get which?: Tattoo or transplant?
Since both are in past tense, it's probably a bit late to ask the question?
Now, assuming you're on immunosuppressant (s) for the transplant, the only risk for tattoo is getting an infection like hepatitis C which your body may not handle as well.
If you're asking if it's ok to have gotten kidney transplant - I presume it was urgently needed given the type of procedure it is ...Read more

How long after stopping lovenox (enoxaparin) do you have to wait to be able to get a tattoo. Just found out we had our third miscarriage and we want to get a tattoo in memory for our three baby's we had lost...

So Sorry...: First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss. No one should have to go through even a third of what you've already been through. In terms of the Lovenox (enoxaparin)...the injections are short lived. They are often stopped just 1 day prior to major surgery. Talk with your prescribing doctor to make sure there aren't any other reasons you can't. Be sure to choose a reputable artist to avoid other complications ...Read more

When it comes to tattoo removal, are some tattoo colors easier to remove than others? I have a pink tattoo on my hand that I want removed and I was hoping this was one of the easier colors for tattoo removal to get rid of. Is this the case? .

Yes: Darker tattoos like black come off easier, red is a close secone. Pink if a mix of red and white is difficult because white does not come out usin lasers. I remove a lot of tattoos and if the red is watered down to pink there is no problem. Make sure your Dr is using a Q yag for you pink because they can frequency doube that and make it target red. You may not know how you pink will go until start ...Read more

If by chance one has a nickel allergy, or sensitivity to metals inside the body, is it still safe to get a small tattoo? Even with Tics? Tattoo safety?

Tattoo allergy: There are a variety of heavy metals used in tattoos that can possibly cause allergic reactions and nickel is one of them. If you are concerned (as you should be), I would have a patch done done of all colors you intend to use in your tattoo. The tic disorder has no effect on whether or not to get a tattoo. ...Read more

Sure: I would not get a tattoo on the area that just healed but if yo want one on another body area sure its safe.

If you have a tattoo on your wrist or ankle, could you get a brain MRI if you needed one? How could a tattoo on wrist or ankle affect brain MRI?

If you have a tattoo on your wrist or ankle, could you get a brain MRI if you needed one? How could a tattoo on wrist or ankle affect brain MRI?

Most likely fine: If there is a lot of iron in the pigment in the tattoo, it might heat up a bit in the MRI scanner. It would be worse at higher field strength such as 3T. It is worse if the tattoo is in the scanned area because more energy is deposited there. For a brain MRI there should be no effect. ...Read more

I had a benign petuitary tumour removed in Dec 2013 and have been taking hydrocortisone tablets since. I want a tattoo but unsure if safe to get one.

No if my kid!: He faints with a simple needle stick. Without adrenal hormones, stress can cause circulatory collapse. With him, a tattoo is dangerous. Of course with most people just getting stuck with a needle is a minor stress, tolerated well and little risk.

I get an itchy rash that alternates between my upper thigh for a week or two and months later I get the same rash over a tattoo on one breast.

Consider fungus: Without actually laying eyes on the rash and examining it properly, it's nearly impossible to tell for sure. But one thing that pops into my head is the possibility of a fungal infection. The places you are having the rash are places that are prone to chafing and/or lingering perspiration, which can be breeding grounds for a fungal infection. Go see your doctor for exam for proper treatment. ...Read more
