D&c for prolonged menses. Doc said he scraped some muscle so he could get fibroid in u wall to scar. 5 weeks still bleeding and one day big clot! Options are lupron, mirena, (levonorgestrel) Depo-Provera hysterectomy? Depressed
Uterine bleeding: If your uterine bleeding is from a fibroid, consider an emboization of the fibroid to end it. You will need to go to an intervertional radiologist (ir) in the hospital to do this. It is not surgery. You will need an angiogram and the ir will embolize the fibroid which will end the bleeding. Obviously, your previous attempts at controlling the bleeding have not been successful, get a consultation. ...Read more
Depends.: Probably the most common reason for bleeding after a hysterectomy is granulation tissue where the vagina was sewn together. This tissue is normal healing tissue but bleeds easily. You should not: You should not have bleeding after a hysterectomy unless you had a supracervical hysterectomy where a portion of the lower part of the uterus was left behind. Define "partial": What do you mean by a "partial" hysterectomy? This term, partial, has been mis-used and can be confusing. If you mean that you had your uterus removed, but your cervix remains, that is more accurately termed a supra-cervical hysterectomy. The cervix that is left behind may still have tissue in the canal that can bleed with your cycles. The best way to find out is to have an exam to confirm. ...Read more

I had hysterectomy on april 3but still having some bleeding like a cycle. Is that normal I gotten two different medicine to stop it and still bleeding?
Possibly: It is normal to have some light bleeding, i.e. A panty liner takes care of it. This can last for several weeks. Usually the bleeding will change to a pinkish/watery discharge as the tissue heals and the sutures dissolve. If your bleeding is heavier than this or if you are having a pain, fever, or foul smelling discharge; I would recommend seeing your doctor to get this looked at. ...Read more
Not normal: If you had a partial hysterectomy (uterus only removed and ovaries/tubes left in) 20 years ago and are now having vaginal bleeding, you need to have it investigated as this would not be expected to occur at this stage of life. See your usual doctor to discuss. If he/she is unable to assess, then request referral to an ob/gyn physician. ...Read more
After hysterectomy: If you had a supracervical hysterectomy it is not unusual to have mild light periods, depending on how much endometrial tissue is left behind. If your uterus and cervix were both removed, than any bleeding needs to be immediately investigated. Please contact your surgeon's office to set up an appointment. ...Read more
Vaginal atrophy: It needs to be clarified whether or not you still have a cervix. If you still have a cervix, then you might be bleeding from the cervix. If you do not have a cervix, then vaginal bleeding is probably related to "thinning" and fragility of the vagina that comes with menopause. In either case, you must schedule a visit with an ob/gyn. ...Read more
