I was diagnosed with shingles last night at urgent care. The rash is located on the L2. I am concerned because they did not swab or do blood work.

Shingles diagnosis: It has been estimated that approximately 10-20% of the population will develop HZ during their lifetime. Individuals over 50 are particularly susceptible because of reduced cell-mediated immunity. Medical history, pain description and blistering in a band on one side of the body may be all that is necessary for herpes zoster diagnosis. The use of antiviral therapy (e.g. acyclovir) is recommended.
