Not good idea: Need to find out if you have urinary tract infection ; start treatment with antibiotics. You could then take Phenazopyridine which will give your urine an orange color ; help to remove burning or pain on urination. However, you risk masking infection ; are at risk for infection going up into your kidneys.

From UTI?: If you are having trouble from a urinary tract infection, antibiotic may reduce your symptoms in less than 24 hours. Other meds such as Pyridium (phenazopyridine) can reduce symptoms in matter of hours. If you have chronic interstitial cystitis, which is rather difficult to treat, which may require multiple meds and/or care from a specialist such as urologist/urogynecologist. Consult doc. For long term pain, you really need an exam to screen for scarring, polyps, or resistant infections. It's usually a quick visit. Pyridium (phenazopyridine) can be added short term to numb your bladder until your infection is treated.

Treat the UTI: Taking Azo for the symptoms of a UTI without actually treating the infection itself can be dangerous. Nausea and vomiting are common signs of UTI that has progressed to the kidneys and Azo alone won't help this.

Don't ignore high fevers and chills; get off the computer now and see a doctor right away. Consider going to the er depending on how you feel.

2 weeks: The Tetracycline is used against Chlamydia, generally for 2 weeks (there is no set period). However as far as pain is concerned in the urethra one can prescribe Pyridium (phenazopyridine) 100 mg Po three times a day for five days. Please remember that when a patient contracts one sexually transmitted disease, there is great chance that he has others. Severe urethral pain with discharge may indicate gonorrhea.

Not as good idea: I don't know who suggested you tamusilosin for frequent urination. You are drinking 100 0z of water. Do you have past history of stones. I suggest you consult your doctor and get yourself checked including urinalysis and culture. The commonest cause of painful frequent urination is infection.you may need antibiotics. If you have past h/o stones then cat scan may be indicated. See your doctor
