Flea bites: For the discomfort of the bites, I would apply an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream twice a day. If the bites become increasingly painful or form pus, she should see a doctor to rule out a secondary bacterial infection of the bites. You should also wash all bedding/towels in hot water or dry in a hot dryer to kill any residual fleas. If you have pets, get them checked at the vet for fleas.

Normal: You are on the mends! It goes bright red, to dark to a little residual pigment and if you didn't scratch too much, gone. Good health.

Warm water: Try using a soft toothbrush gently rubbing the skin while running under very warm water for about 5 - 10 min. That should give you several hours of relief and allow you to fall asleep. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) at bedtime may also help you sleep.

Anti-itch: Anti-itch medications can be topical such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream or caladryl. Oral antihistamines such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can be helpful as well. Removing the source of infection/infestation to prevent recurrent bites is important.

Maybe Scabies?: Possible that you've been bitten again by more fleas--or you may have contracted scabies. Scabies are mites that burrow under the skin, and cause profound itching. (especially at night) Untreated, they will continue to spread. Treatment requires a topical scabicide--usually Elemite cream. Apply at bedtime to entire body from neck down, and wash off in morning. Repeat in 5-7 days.

Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) lotion: Try some over the counter benadryl (diphenhydramine) 25 mg every 6-8 hours for the itching. Here's some other things to help: 1) keep skin cool, heat makes itching worse 2) use lotion, dry is tichy, 3) avoid friction, rubbing skin causes itchy skin to be more itchy. Be aware that the benadryl (diphenhydramine) can make you sleepy so don't drive and take it. Try to get rid of the fleas. Good luck.

Itchy bumps: Flea bites appear as small, red bumps, that remain small, unlike mosquito bites. Relieve the symptoms of flea bites with over-the-counter anti-itch creams and antihistamine medications (Loratadine). Avoid scratching the area. If not better or infection develops, see your doctor. Do-it-yourself home treatments are available for fleas, but if they do not work, you may need to seek professional help.

I have flea bites on my skin. How can I make them stop itching? And how can I repel the fleas from biting me!?

I have flea bites on my skin. How can I make them stop itching? And how can I repel the fleas from biting me!?

Over-the-counter med: For flea bites, one can take claritin, zyrtec, or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) to block histamine that causes itching. Hydrocortisone 1% cream 2-3 times a day on the bites for about 5 days will help them go away. For more itch relief, one can put an anti-itch gel such as "itch-x" on bites. Itch-x has an anesthetic to numb the itch. If bites are growing or painful, a doctor can evaluate. "deep woods off" repels fleas.

I have numerous flea bites on my ankles and they itch like crazy. Is there anything I can soak my feet in to soothe the itching or another way to help?

Itchy bites: Itch and swelling from insect bites and stings is usually improved with oral antihistamines and topical steroid creams. Washing with soap and water and patting dry 1-2 times daily will be important to prevent infection. Trimming your nails will help prevent further skin trauma by itching.

Why are my mosquito bites lasting so long? Usually they go away within an hour. Now three days later it's visible and still itches.

Allergy: Most people become allergic to mosquito venom after a bite or two. With each bite eliciting a larger reaction than before. It is possible that the lesion and itching may even become progressively worse over the course of a week. Try topical hydrocortisone plus anti-itch cream on the site.

I have 2 flea bites in the pubic region. They itch like crazy and was wondering how long it should take for it to heal and go away if they are bites?

I have 2 flea bites in the pubic region. They itch like crazy and was wondering how long it should take for it to heal and go away if they are bites?

Flea bites?: If they are indeed flea bites, it should feel better in a few days. You could try some hydrocortisone or itch-x to help w/the itching. If you are not sure, however, you need to have it checked out because it could be something more serious and it better to treat it early before it spreads
