Several weeks: The maternal transmitted immunity only is protective for several weeks. A 7 month old child is not protected. If he has been exposed to his Dad he may get chickenpox. Timing: I encourage parents to feed their infants every 3-4 days during the day. Breastfeeding will have a different pattern at times as infants will cycle through high demand days.
