ABC: If baby is unconcious conduct quick evaluation: check the airway , check for breathing by looking at chest and abdominal wall movements and listenning with your ear to baby's nostrills and mouth and possibly feeling flow of the air on your ear/cheek also skin would turn pale or cyanotic if not breathing, and finaly check heart rate. I assume you are hyperventilating and passing out or holding your breath and passing out.
Normally you can not do this to the point of death, you pass out before that occurs but in passing out you can suffer trauma falling etc. This is not a good practice ...Read more
No: If they have a pulse and are breathing, there is no need for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or chest compressions. Unconscious people can have both, one or none of the above. In the new guidelines for cpr, if you come across someone who is unconscious and not breathing, start doing rapid chest compressions. if unsure of pulse, start chest compressions, 100 per minute rate. Without blood flow, patient will die.
