Day 7 of my 7 year son having a stomach virus and he is still cramping and now complaining of a headache? How long can this virus last in a child?
Needs evaluation: Your intuition is right a virus shouldn't last this long, and stomach viruses in general come and go quite quickly. The question is if he is overall better or not? The headache could be due to dehydration from volume losses (vomiting/diarrhea). So I would try fluids now--chicken soup, pedialyte etc. DEFINITELY would go back to the docs though for more evaluation. You don't want to miss something. ...Read more

HIV virus: Hiv is extremely sensitive to fluctuations in temperature. Outside of the human body, the virus dies within minutes. Shingles: We don't generally worry about shingles virus being spread by surfaces. I think the virus probably could survive on a surface but since chicken pox itself is usually spread by breathing on someone doubt you could give chicken pox this way. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

How long does noro virus last in luggage? My dad got sick on vacation, and I'm wondering if I can still catch it. (We were on vacation in December)
Probably no risk: I'm not aware of any research on whether luggage can carry norovirus for such a long time. However, there are also no scientific reports that anyone ever caught the virus from using contaminated luggage. If the luggage was directly contaminated, such as someone vomiting on it, clean it with a disinfectant soap. Otherwise, don't worry about it. ...Read more
