I got a sudden deep cough with wheezing and have ashtma. Could this be an ashtma attack? Should I head to ER or wait and see the doctor
Wheezing=asthma: Given a history of asthma, one should consider any wheezing episode as an asthma exacerbation. Albuterol (ProAir, Proventil, (albuterol) Ventolin) should be used as your rescue medication during flare-ups, usually 2 puffs every 4 hours. If wheezing does not stop after first dose Albuterol, an evaluation is warranted. Your doctor should be able to advise you on the next course of action, so call now! ...Read more

I've been wheezing I went too my doctor he put me on some albuterol sulfate and he ask me did my doctor who I see for sleep anep did he gave me a c pep machine I told him no what should I do?
Call doctor: If you are wheezing due to asthma, then the albuterol may not be enough treatment. Was asthma diagnosed with lung tests? Any other tests performed? If not, ask for referral to Allergist or Pulmonologist. If testing done, let your doc know the albuterol is not enough. If you are light-headed or dizzy or having trouble catching breath, go to ER. CPAP does not treat asthma. ...Read more

I have the flu and am having coughing (unproductive), and wheezing. Can I get an inhaler without seeing a doctor?
Would not suggest: First of all, you can not get an inhaler without a prescription. Secondly, diagnosing and treating yourself without a doctor exam is definitely the wrong thing to do. You can potentially kill yourself if you miss something. May I suggest going to an Urgicare center. It won't be a long wait and you'll get a better diagnosis and proper treatment. Is there anything other than lung cancer that can cause a localized wheeze lasting many months and associated mild cough? Seeing a doc soon but worry.
A free clinic: The fda has removed all otc medications for asthma so nothing is available without prescription. If you don't have a doctor and can't afford one you should find a local free clinic or seek assistance through government-sponsored programs. I am truly sorry that you are ill and can't afford medical care. ...Read more
I have a constant slight whistle with exhalation. One doctor said it was wheezing. But the other two said that it is not a wheeze and it is nothing?
Location is everythg: "Wheezing" is a very specific thing, from a doc's perspective. It is a sound created when small airways in the lungs become tight & produce a characteristic sound when you breathe. LOTS of things can cause breathing noise, but aren't "wheezing" in the textbook sense. Don't give up! . I suspect you have a slight obstruction in your throat or something. I'd X-ray your throat for starters. God bless! ...Read more
Last thrus went 2 doc said was bronchotis, got meds, sun went er said it was pnemonuioa got stronger meds. Meds gone still wheezing, go to er or rest.
PCP or urgent care: If you are wheezing, the initial infection may have been due to a viral or atypical pneumonia. The latter responds well to Erythromycin or Azithromycin. Viral illnesses are not treated with antibiotics. If you are still wheezing, steroids may be needed and I would recommend follow up, particularly if the wheezing worsens or is not improving. Albuterol should be used every three hours as needed. ...Read more
Depends: It depends on the cause. The list of possibilities is just too long, but a discussion to better define your symptoms and to learn more about your medical history will go a long way towards narrowing the possibilities. Sometimes obtaining relief is as simple as making a lifestyle change. Good luck! ...Read more
I was prescribed an inhaler by my doctor it seems like my breathing has gotten worse and I start wheezing earlier on in my exercise. Is this normal?
Old addage: "All that wheezes is not asthma". Make sure you trust the diagnosis. Albuterol should help if you have exercise induced asthma. In some cases, responsiveness to albuterol will decrease over time. In these cases, montelukast seems to be a particularly good option (better than in other types of asthma). Keep your physician up to date and thanks for trusting HealthTap. ...Read more
Had bronchitis for 3 months now, been taking medicine from doctor, but I still have a bad cough and wheezing. Should I go back to doctor? Or worry?
Yes & maybe: Average duration of cough illness is 18 days (http://alvinblin. Blogspot. Com/2013/01/average-duration-of-cough-18-days. Html) so 3 months or 90 days is "excessive". More worrisome is wheezing. Cough is often a symptom of silent wheezing. Bottom line, it's time to go back & see your doc. Perhaps you have asthma. Foreign body? Obstruction? Idiopathic pulmonary lung disease? Get pulmonary function test. ...Read more
Can anxiety-induced wheezing be treated with asthma inhalers? I've had wheezing for months and my doc thinks it's my anxiety, but inhalers works on it
Of course it can: Bronchospasm- wheezing, tight chest, cough, can have a number of triggers: allergies, windy weather, colds, and anxiety is one of them. Inhalers can be helpful with this condition, no matter what the cause. If it happens frequently you may want to see a pulmonary specialist or allergist to see if there might be other triggers than anxiety ...Read more

My 6mo old girl wheezes really bad but doc said its not actual wheezing but didn't do anything to help, what could it be?
Tracheomalacia?: Wheezing is the noise made by narrow or swollen small airways in the lungs. Some babies have noisy breathing for a different reason, such as a main breathing tube that hasn't grown stiff yet (tracheomalacia). The main thing to do when your doc says noisy breathing isn't wheezing, is ask what it is, and what, if anything, should be done. Often it's safe and will be outgrown without doing anything. ...Read more
I start wheezing when I lie down. Sitting up the doctors hear no problem. I have a cough for 4 months now and basic antibiotics did not work.
Asthma?: Without an examination would only be guessing, but seeing a pulmonologist (lung doctor) would be a very good idea. In addition to listening to your lungs there are some simple assessments of lung function that can be made rapidly and potentially lead to a diagnosis in concert with a full history. Hope you are better soon. ...Read more

My doctor prescribed flovent fha and singular for mummy allergies, wheezing and asthma. Is this combo safe? Side effects?
Very safe: Treatment of asthma is likely being carried out. Flovent is an inhaled corticosteroid. It targets the inflammation in the airways and reduces the amount of smooth muscle making it easier for air to move in and out. Leukotrienes are a group of chemicals released during allergic reactions. They promote the inflammation in the airway. Singular targets leukotrienes. This is a very common combo. ...Read more
I was diagnosis wheezing in the lungs. It feels like wheezing is in my throat from post nasal drip. Could the source of wheezing be mistaken by the doctor?
Maybe: The throat does not wheeze, it does make another noise, stridor, that might be mistaken for a wheeze. It would be much louder listenting to the neck. There are people with Vocal Fold Dysfunction that is mistaken for wheezing and asthma. Usually it would affect your voice as well. The bigger problem is mistaking it for exercise induced asthma. I don't think this is likely, but it is possible. ...Read more
How do doctors treat a patient with both asthma and SVT with daily symptoms of chronic coughing and wheezing?
Good question: Asthma control needs a comprehensive evaluation, control of co-morbid conditions as rhino-sinustis, GERD, etc is important, adherence to treatment plan for controller medications, not including LABA, is needed, for breakthrough symptoms or asthma flares, levoalbuterol, which doesn't cause tachycardia, can be used for opening up the lower airways, the bronchi, regular follow-up is important ...Read more
A month ago I had Bronquitis, My doctor gave me Azitromicyne and Albuterol. I got better but 4 days ago I started coughing wheezing, green flems.
Asthma: You have likely been exposed to another infection. If wheezing is a persistent symptom of your illnesses it is likely you have asthma. You require a medication, usually as inhaled steroid to control your wheezing and a medication to rescue your acute symptoms. See your doctor and discuss your symptoms and management to keep you well. ...Read more
