Will wearing an eyepatch suppress double vision? I suffered a concussion recently and have double vision, will wearing an eyepatch help?

Yes, eyepatch helps: Double vision can arise from head injury if the eye muscle, nerve, or housing (orbit) has been damaged. Accurate diagnosis is needed, so see an opthamologist ASAP. Eye patches, alternated every 15-30 minutes will control this annoying symptom but not fix the problem. Tincture of time, Botox, fresnel lenses, muscle strengthening or orbital repair all can fix depending on cause ...Read more

High blood pressure, headache + double vision. Checked over at a+e and given painkillers. How long approx will double vision last?

See an eye doctor: Too little information to tell. Anywhere from the time it takes to put on prism glasses if it is a 6th nerve palsy to several months or years of anti VEGF injections if you have macular edema from a retinal vein occlusion or diabetic retinopathy. If it is from high intracranial pressure due to a brain tumor.....well, you get my drift.......

Go see an eye doctor ASAP. ...Read more

Every psych med I try gives me side effects. Last one double vision so couldn't drive. Are there meds out there less likely to have side effects?

This is a toughie: You're 1 of those unlucky people whose tolerance of a broad spectrum of drugs is poor. This is important drug wisdom: Drugs that have few side effects are also likely to have fewer therapeutic effects. A possible approach may be "rational polypharmacy" where you add extremely low doses of 2 or 3 drugs cautiously 1 at a time; the drugs having complementary mechanisms of action. Good luck! ...Read more

I get double vision when I stand up suddenly after working long hours. Is this normal?

I get double vision when I stand up suddenly after working long hours. Is this normal?

Blood pooling: You probably have some degree of blood pooling in the lower extremities which increases with the inactivity of prolonged sitting. When you stand up suddenly your upper body, and this includes the eye muscle coordination center in the brain stem, has a temporary loss of blood and this alters the function which for you causes a brief doubling of vision. Try getting up slowly/flex your muscles first. ...Read more

I have only double vision from last 7 weeks and taking medication as prednisolone that helped me to reduce the diplopia. Is this the symptoms of ms?

Double vision: Need to know if the double vision is monocular or binocular. Cover one eye. If the double vision goes away, then it is so called binocular diplopia. Cannot exclude ms as a cause, but start with a good examination and medical evaluation. ...Read more
