Reactions: Not clear to me, as to why lumbar puncture needed, unless you were thought to have pseudo tumor cerebri. But now it seems you have a post LP headache, which may respond to a "blood patch". Contact your neurologist and get this complication addressed, and get treatment for your "chronic daily headaches". Make Concierge Appt. Here if you wish further help.
Depends on duration: This depends on the duration of the post LP headache. If you have a headache when upright, that improves when lying flat following an LP that has been present for several days, you should call the doctor and explain your symptoms. Treatment is usually very effective in terminating symptoms in several hours. Lp.
Yes: Rest, fluids, caffeine, over the counter medications. If these do not work, a blood patch may be needed. This is where any anesthesiologist injects your own blood in the region of your lumbar puncture. The blood clots over the hole left from your lumbar puncture and your pressure rebuilds again.
See HA specialist: When evaluating a patient's headache, it is imperative that the clinician first identify and exclude a secondary headache based on history and clinical examination before proceeding to the diagnosis of the specific primary headache. See Orofacial Pain or headache specialist for definitive diagnosis and treatment.

My 3 yrs old son had a lumbar puncture on friday, yesterday he started to feel a terrible headache, is zs normal? Wt is z reason, how long it wl last
Lumbar punctures: After a lumbar puncture it is not uncommon to have a headache. If the headache responds to common meds like tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen I would not worry. Also if it lasts several days this may be due to a small leak around the puncture and can be remedied by the doctor who did the lumbar puncture. Talk to your doctor.
Post LP Headache: Post lumbar puncture/spinal tap headaches last until the tiny hole in the dura seals. This can be years but is usually a day or 3. Typically, the cure is to lay flat for 24 hours to keep the pressure low and allow the tiny hole in the dura to heal which it almost always does. Lots of caffeine is helpful too. You may want to call your dr and ask about a blood patch.

Lumbar puncture: A severe headache after a lumbar puncture is not uncommon and in most cases resolves on its own. If the headache persists more than a week you will need to see the person who did it for further evaluation. Hearing issues after a lumbar puncture are not at all a common problem, if it persists you might need to see a hearing specialist.
