I have headaches everyday. After getting a lumbar puncture headache is worse now neck hurts. What else could it be?
Not clear to me, as to why lumbar puncture needed, unless you were thought to have pseudo tumor cerebri. But now it seems you have a post LP headache, which may respond to a "blood patch". Contact your neurologist and get this complication addressed, and get treatment for your "chronic daily headaches".

Depends on duration:
This depends on the duration of the post LP headache. Treatment is usually very effective in terminating symptoms in several hours.

Lumbar punctures: After a lumbar puncture it is not uncommon to have a headache. If the headache responds to common meds like tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen I would not worry. Also if it lasts several days this may be due to a small leak around the puncture and can be remedied by the doctor who did the lumbar puncture. Talk to your doctor. ...Read more
Post LP Headache: Post lumbar puncture/spinal tap headaches last until the tiny hole in the dura seals. This can be years but is usually a day or 3. Typically, the cure is to lay flat for 24 hours to keep the pressure low and allow the tiny hole in the dura to heal which it almost always does. Lots of caffeine is helpful too. You may want to call your dr and ask about a blood patch. ...Read more

I'm having vision problems and chronic headaches/migraines. Can you explain the lumbar puncture and what they're looking for with it?
Inflammation: Migraines can cause headache and visual disturbance. However, this can sometimes be difficult to distinguish from similar symptoms that occur in conditions such as encephalitis. Also, a condition called idiopathic intracranial hypertension can cause headaches and visual changes. The lumbar puncture can see if there is evidence of inflammation or increased pressure. If not, probably migraine. ...Read more
I have been suffering headache since three years ago, my lumbar puncture and MRI report show that I'm not infected. However, I discover that my ESR is 41?
ESR: This is a non-specific indicator of inflammation. The major things increasing ESR are increases in globulins and fibrinogen. The latter is a more common factor and can be caused by release of fibrin degradation products during dic (which may be subclinical). No diagnosis can be made from this lab value, and it should only be used in the context of full medical evaluations. Good luck. ...Read more
