Estimates from cultural experience may or may not apply in your case to the minute, but have been through the courts on many a case of suspected DUI. ...Read more

I drink quite heavily and I'm due for a alcohol blood test in two weeks time. How long will it take for it to be clear on test?
Depends/ metabolism: In the average individual, 1/2 of the existing ethanol will be out of the system in about 1/2 hour, but this is effected both by loading (continuing to drink) & the livers ability to metabolize the product. If your liver cannot remove the product as fast, it stays longer. Abstaining for at least a day should clear most, but longer may be needed. ...Read more

Do not drink:
Blood alcohol levels will not be abnormal at 24 hours after a drink. However there are other tests that can detect alcohol intake up to 80 hours earlier. It would depend on what test is being done. Some tests are positive for two weeks after the drink in a chronic drinker. See this site for info.

I had a beer yesterday evening with dinner, which means if I get the blood test it will have been a day and a half. Will any alcohol show up on my test?

Urine is the best body fluid, and saliva is increasingly being used as well. Hair and nail testing will detect some drugs for months. Newer alcohol tests (EtG, EtS, PeTH) can detect alcohol use for several days, if they are using those tests. ...Read more
