Can you wear contacts lenses after cataract surgery? I have always worn contact lenses instead of glasses. After my cataract surgery, will I be able to wear contact lenses? If so, how long do I need to wait after my surgery to begin wearing them again?
Easy answer-yes: I would hope that your cataract surgery corrected your distance vision, or both distance and near vision with the intraocular implant placed in your eye durung surgery. There would be no need for contacts post operatively. If you needed an additional correction after cataract surgery, contact lenses could be used about 6 to 8 weeks post op.See 3 more doctor answers
After cataract surgery, how long do I need to wait before I can drive? I am semi-retired, 64 years old and a school bus driver part of the year. I'm preparing to have cataract surgery. How long after my surgery should I wait before it is safe for me to go
Discuss with doc: You should discuss this with your surgeon. Your vision should recover very quickly after cataract surgery unless there are special circumstances. Most patients can drive almost immediately, however, there can be some challenges using both eyes together if the un-operated eye has a high prescription.See 3 more doctor answers
Short term: Almost all cataract surgery is done under local; the eye protection is to cover the eye during the period when the anesthetic is still in effect to prevent accidentally poking the eye. It is not used to promote healing. By the next day after surgery, the cover will have been removed and with ordinary caution, the eye will heal nicely.

If your eye is swollen after cataract surgery is that normal. How long is normal for it to be swollen? ??
Varies: Biological response to surgery varies but swelling of the tissue lasting more than 2-4 days after cataract surgery is unusual and requires evaluation. If this is happening, you should contact your operating surgeon for an evaluation, especially if there is pain, bleeding or redness or the vision is dropping.See 1 more doctor answer
Healing after cat Sg: Typically 2 to 3 weeks surgery in the other eye can be done as early as 3 days after the first one. There has been recent efforts to consider, bilateral cataract surgery in one setting. What precluded this in the past is the remote possibility of an infection in one eye, that could conceivably affect both eyes.See 2 more doctor answers

Yes: But this is unavoidable. Using a jelly filled donut as an example, the cataract would be the jelly and the capsule is the rest of the donut. During cataract surgery, the jelly of the donut is removed and a thin lens is placed in the donut. How thick the donut was originally will dictate how much wrinkling occurs, as the donut shrink-wraps around the new lens.See 2 more doctor answers
Depends: Depending on pre-surgery risks & other surgical factors (was laser cataract surgery performed, was there any complication, excess iris manipulation or energy needed), most pts can go back to school/computer/work in 2-5days: as long as using drops, no bending, lifting, heavy straining performed. Swimming with goggles likely ok at 7-10 days; no goggles @30d: check with eyeMD; Eyedoc2020@blogspot. ComSee 2 more doctor answers
