Difficult to answer: There are many different viruses that can cause bronchitis, all with different incubation periods and different time frames for viral shedding. But, if you have active symptoms like fever, nasal congestion, sore throat, etc., you are likely contagious. Not sure if your doc 'nailed' the etiology of the cough -if it was pertussis, then that cough can last for weeks. Polymicrobial: Well..first....all of likely have those bacterial somewhere on our bodies too. Your not contagious to anyone..unless its MRSA and we have that as commensuals too. Recommending antibiotics won't do any good here because I doubt you really have 3 active bacteria causing infection in the same area.
