A few weeks later, one ovary releases an egg and the uterine lining thickens in preparation for a potential pregnancy. Pregnancy can occur at this stage if sperm fertilizes the egg. If the egg is not fertilized, the egg will leave your body and ...Read more

Can you tell me about it's like to take progesterone suppositories for infertility & experienced a heavy painful 1st period?

Sure: Progesterone suppositories are inserted once or twice daily inside your vagina. Most do not have any problems with it. Some women can have some discharge and some can have bloating and feel crampy. Some feel drowsy. Most feel completely normal. Painful 1st period may just be related to having a stressful cycle trying to conceive or from all the hormones you have taken. Good Luck to you ...Read more

Am on progesterone suppository. Is there any way to find placenta has taken over progesterone production at 12 wks before stopping suppository?

Luteal phase defect: I use progesterone in the 1st trimester quite a bit for borderline progesterones and luteal phase defect. I don't check the levels after 12 weeks because the placenta produces a sufficient amount and losses from low progesterone occur much earlier. Certainly a progesterone can be done once off the suppositories, but while you're taking them the level in your blood will reflect total progesteron ...Read more

I had my HCG levels tested with 2311 on Wednesday then agin on Friday 2324, started brown spotting on Friday night. Started 100 mg of progesterone suppositories on Saturday night and now I have reddish-brown spotting. Is this normal?

Hcg: That's not really a good rise in hcg. Would usually expect it to rise about 15% or more in 48 hours. I would repeat the level tomorrow (monday) and get it for an Ultrasound this week ...Read more

My HCG levels have been slowly increasing. 18, 25, 37. Prescribed progesterone suppositories 1x per day. Is cramping normal? What's is the prognosis?

To early to say: I need more information. How often did your doctor do the quantitative Beta HCG. Those numbers could be ok if they were done daily. Most of the time we will do them every 2-3 days. The HCG level is suppose to double every 2-3 days. If you were doing HCG levels every 3 days and your progesterone is low, the prognosis is guarded. Possible problems could be a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. ...Read more
