No limit : There is no true limit on time. If it is just begging on the disease- may be first attack - can happen with in couple hrs, however, as disease progresses pain can become more constant. Somewhat unusual: Typically a low fat food, like bananas, should help prevent gallbladder problems. It may be more related to reflux, gastritis or possibly signs of a duodenal ulcer. Just because an: Ultrasound was clear does not clear the gallbladder. Sometimes if it is very sluggish in emptying it will cause the same symptoms and the only cure is surgical removal . You look for it in a test called a HIDA scan. Best. ...Read more

Hard to answer: Worth investigating with your doctor. If you have jaundice (yellow skin or eyes) there could be a retained stone. If you have an ulcer, symptoms might be nearly same. If there is abnormal flow through the end of the bile duct, you could have symptoms. Could be...: You didn't mention how far out of surgery you were. It could be a stone in the common bile duct. Even after removal, stones could develop in the liver and still get stuck causing pain.
