Is it possible for diverticulitis to come back in a month after a 2 week antibiotic treatment even if trying to stick to a diet?

Yes: 35 year old gentleman s/p 2 week treatment for diverticular disease now with unknown symptoms recurring. You should contact your treating physician immediately and if you have severe symptoms go to the ER. Good luck. ...Read more

Developed diverticulitis following colonoscopy. First time ever had it. Colon now messed up. Chance of diverticulitis happening again?

I have blood in stool. I've had 4 colonoscopy. Negative results. Had diverticulitis before. What could my problem be?

I have blood in stool. I've had 4 colonoscopy. Negative results. Had diverticulitis before. What could my problem be?

Maybe not colonic...: Evaluation is always appropriate for re-bleeding from the gut. Black stool often means bleeding from upper GI tract; grape jelly stool from small bowel; silver stool from biliary tree; burgundy stool from right colon; red blood from left colon to anal canal. Any accompanying symptoms? Do you take NSAID's, over-use alcohol, smoke tobacco, have other risks (AVM's for example)--lots to consider. ...Read more

If I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis by CT scan do I need a colonoscopy?

If I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis by CT scan do I need a colonoscopy?

That can be hard to tell if the infection caused the swelling, or if a tumor is causing the thickening. It is common to recommend a colonoscopy several weeks after the diverticulitis had healed, if you have not already had one. ...Read more

Will an ultrasound show diverticulitis or Crohn's? Had colonoscopy about a year ago and it results were clean. Having Mid-LLQ pain & dr ordered U/S.

No diagnostic test: is ever 100%. There are always false negatives and positives. In your case, your doctor was probably looking for kidney stones or infection or a problem with your ovary, not something in the colon. US has better sensitivity in kidney and ovarian problems than in colon problems. ...Read more
