Not similar: The NuvaRing is comparable to the birth control pill, it contains estrogen and pregesterone and is intended to provide contraception by suppressing the ovaries, it usually provides good cycle contro as well - it is placed in the vagina by the user. I got my mirena out a nonth ago and switched that day to nuvaring. When should I start bleeding again? Breakthrough hasn't started, none after removal
1-2 months: Mirena inhibits the growth inside the uterus and it takes a little time to grow back. With the NuvaRing you will probable have a cycle by the time you remove the second one. That assumes you use it cyclic, 3 weeks in 1 week out. If you immed. Started using continuous, 4 weeks in and immed. Switch with a new one, you may not have a cycle. ...Read more
I used Mirena from 11/18- 5/5 a week before the removal I was put on Nuvaring I used it for a week & now I want a baby how long until we conceive?
Right away: Using the Nuva Ring does not prolong your chances of becoming pregnant. It might take a cycle or two, but you should be able to conceive (chances with any cycle are around 20-25%) next cycle. The only birth control that prolongs infertility is the Depot Provera shot. All the others don't prolong infertility. ...Read more
Sadly, no: Nuvaring is the only birth control just like it. The Mirena iud has fewer hormones (and no estrogen), but, as you can guess from the name, it's an intrauterine device, not a ring that sits in your vagina. I think it would be great to have ring with lower dosing, as we've seen with oral contraceptives, lower doses can be just as effective. Write to NuvaRing and recommend they make a low-dose! ...Read more
I'm getting my mirena removed in 15 days. Nervously. Recommendations on a bc? No weight gain. And can easily be taken off of.
I it possible that the nuvaring will help me with my ovarian cysts? As opposed to the IUD which i just took out....?
Yes, it should: The iud just keeps the egg from being fertilized by incapacitating the sperm in the uterus. It has no effect on the ovary. Nuvaring, like the pill, the patch, the shot and the implant all keep you from ovulating by stopping the development of the follicle (cyst) that contains and releases the egg. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Options: Depending on your age and fertility plans there are lots of treatment options. Mirena iuds usually minimize your periods. Neither is "better".: Both are effective for birthcontrol. Mirena has to be inserted by your physician, but then lasts for up to 5 yrs. Most peoiple either don't have periods at all or shorter periods. If you decide to get pregnant it can be removed by your doctor at any time. Nuvaring is a vaginal ring which releases hormones at a constant dose. It must be changed monthly but is done by the patient. ...Read more
