How Fertilization Of An Egg Affects The Process Of Menstruation
Here are some...: Fertilization takes place only the egg & one lucky sperm meet at right time & place, and under right environment; specifically speaking, ovulated egg sucks into Fallopian tube in waiting mode, and sperms-rich semen ejaculate in the depth of vagina, from where the sperms released from liquefied semen start to move and swim "upstream" into cervix, through uterine cavity, and into F-tube to fertilize ...Read more
The menstrual cycle begins with the shedding of the uterine lining, resulting in bleeding from the vagina. A few weeks later, one ovary releases an egg and the uterine lining thickens in preparation for a potential pregnancy. Pregnancy can occur at this stage if sperm fertilizes the egg. If the egg is not fertilized, the egg will leave your body and ...Read more
Can sperm still fertilize an egg 24 hours after ovulation? If yes, will the sperm need another 12 hours for the capacitation process?
Yes they can: Fertilization can definitely take place 24 hours after ovulation. The capacitation usually takes place shortly after ejaculation and is facilitated by the uterine environment. It doesn't take 12 hours to occur. If you don't want to worry about an unwanted pregnancy or hiv/std, be more careful and don't have unprotected sex. ...Read more

Hmmm....: Have never known sperm to be selflessly polite, and swim in place (they can't stand in line), waiting for sperm from an earlier day to go first. However, many sperm from an earlier day would likely have tired out by the time the newer sperm arrived on the scene. But still, nobody knows. If one man, it doesn't matter. If two men, the rule is to separate men by at least TWO weeks. It's a good rule. ...Read more
What is the chance of mutant sperm being able to fertilize egg, where the baby born will have genetic defect/disease?
Probably does happen: This is less likely to happen than fertilization by a healthy sperm. One of the features of male reproduction that differs from that of the female is the screening process created by sperm function. Fertilization is achieved by the healthier sperm that swims better/faster & gets there first. Could that include faulty genetic information? Yes. Yet it couldn't be bad enough to disable the sperm. ...Read more

Ovulation: A female only is fertile when she is ovulating. Sperm cause pregnancy if left in the vagina during the five days leading up to ovulation. How many days after fertilization does the fertilized egg become a blastocyst? Then embryo? What implants-the blastocyst or embryo?
The process: As the fertilized egg divides, it is first known as a morula. Approximately 5 days from first fertilization it forms into a hollow ball known as a blastocyst. This blastocyst implants and begins to sort itself out into different layers--the inner group becomes the embryo and the outer layer will work to nourish and protect. At approximately 6-7 weeks from time of fertilization, an embryo begins. ...Read more
If you have unprotected sex 3 days before you ovulate and the day you ovulate will the sperm from the 3 days before fertilize the egg first?
See answer: In general, sperm can survive in the vagina for 1-2 days but up to 5 days in the right environment such as the cervix and uterus. The egg, on the other hand, has a life span of about 12-24 hours. Therefore, fertilization could occur with the sperm from either of the 2 ejaculations. ...Read more
If a egg is available and sperm is deposited in the vagina, do fertilization start immediately? Or do it take awhile for sperm to reach the egg?
Hello, I had ivf, only 1 egg fertilize out of 2. I got a call today saying its A grade embryo on day 3. what are the chances of surviving till day 5?
Consider d3 transfer: Impossible to say with certainty, though top quality d3 embryos are optimistic for making d5. My question is: if you have 1 embryo, why wait for d5 and not transfer on d3? If you were planning to do PGS (at age 28?) you'd need to wait, but I see few other reasons (avoid OHSS?) not to just transfer on d3. Elective frozen transfers are also becoming very popular but risky for 1 embryo. Good luck! ...Read more

Here are some...: Abnormal sperms denote those sperms with odd shape or poor motility, which tend to less possibly penetrate the timely waiting egg. Nonetheless, if luckily and successfully penetrating to get into the egg takes place, fertilization (union) occurs to form zygote which in turn undergo cell division to form embryo, which will embed onto uterine mucosa (endometrium) where it eventually develops fetus ...Read more
