Bulimia: Yes, it can cause weight loss, but bulimia, like anorexia, is a dangerous behavior and anyone that exhibits this behavior should seek or be referred for immediate medical treatment. Bulimia can be extremely damaging to the body, especially to the stomach and esophagus. Erosive esophagitis, malnutrition, and rotten teeth are just a few of the problems that may result from bulimia.

Some Tips: It is challenging to lose weight when recovering from bulimia. You do not want to obsess about food. Consider joining and getting a sponsor in oa. Work with a dietician to develop a healthy eating plan. Start exercising regularly. Find a good therapist and learn new ways to cope with anxiety instead of purging. Not a good solution!: Bulimia has many negative side effects. If you have difficulty losing weight, you might see a dietician, or join a weight watcher program. You might join a health club and exercise regularly. Take dance classes, or some other program that can be fun and inspire active participation. Bulimia can kill.

Talk to a doctor: It sounds like you would benefit for treatment for a psychiatric illness. Gradually is better: Weight that is lost quickly does not usually stay off. Most people will gain back the weight they lost and more. Better to eat 3 moderate meals and 2 healthy snacks a day, eating about every 3-4 hours. Don't try to eliminate all your favorite foods but cut back on the amount. Watch portion size and empty calories like sweetened drinks. Eat when you're hungry and stop when you feel satisfied.

Trying to lose weight rapidly with an extreme "crash" diet is a setup for failure, or the yo-yo effect (when you stop the diet you regain the weight back plus more).
