Is it normal to bleed from the rectum after colonoscopy?

Is it normal to bleed from the rectum after colonoscopy?

Occasionally: Depending if you had hemorrhoids or biopsies, you may experience a little bleeding for a day or two. If polyps are removed, the bleeding can be heavier and longer.

I have a small rectum that prevents either a colonoscopy or digital examination. What options do I have.

Unlikely: You could either do virtual colonoscopy which is a ct scan or they can use a pediatric colonoscope which is a smaller scope for the colonoscopy. Check with your doctor.

Contact doctor: Colonoscopies are frequently associated with biopsies that might result in a small amount of temporary rectal bleeding. It should not cause bleeding 2 weeks after procedure.

I had a colonoscopy last week, which came back clear, however on my report it shows that 40 biopsies were taken from the rectum to the terminal ileum?

Depends: Why was the colonoscopy done? If it was as monitoring for inflammatory bowel disease, then the biopsies were appropriate. Give it a week or so and check with your doctor about the results of the biopsies. Wish you good health and a Happy New Year!

Please tell me, could a colonoscopy show difference between prolapsed rectum and hemmrhoids?

Please tell me, could a colonoscopy show difference between prolapsed rectum and hemmrhoids?

Not very useful: Rectal prolapse when the last portion of the large intestine protrudes through the anus. Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels that develop in the anus and lower rectum. Early rectal prolapse can mimic internal hemorrhoids making it difficult to tell these. Probably best test is to have a colorectal surgeon conduct exam by bearing down to show the prolapse. Protoscopy and colonoscopy may help.

Why would I have pain/pressure in my rectum area while having gas, before, and while I have to go to the bathroom. I have grade two internal hemorrhoids and have had a neg colonoscopy.?

Fissure: Typically a rectal fissure is the source of severe rectal pain and bleeding. The hemorrhoids are less painful, cause bleeding, and often hide the fissure located under or deep to the hemorrhoid. Initial treatment is softer, smaller caliber stool with bowel regimen. If not getting better, then surgery consultation. Take a friend with you. Be well

Ever since I set up appt, for colonoscopy I have started going poop every time I go to bathroom, even to pee. My rectum aches at times. Stress?

Could be...: stress, but then the doctor ordered a colonoscopy for some reason. Were you having these symptoms? Have you been on antibiotics recently? Have you started your prep for the colonoscopy? Worth mentioning to your doc before hand, but the study will probably help to explain the symptom. Good luck!

Rectum burns after I gave myself an enema- I still feel full. Just had colonoscopy it was clean, am I really constipated?

Rectum burns after I gave myself an enema- I still feel full. Just had colonoscopy it was clean, am I really constipated?

See your GI: If colonoscopy was "clean" means both your colon was cleaned out of stool and clear to visualize well surface and it was clear of any abnormalities then you have rectal burning after giving yourself an enema then wonder if you injured yourself inappropriately administering the enema to yourself. Rectal burning can also occur from drinking dr pepper. Check back with GI who did your colonoscopy.

Speak to the doctor: Call your doctor inform him, most likely will cancel, immediately you need drainage of pilonidal abscess and antibiotics

Hemorrhoids: This is commonly found during colonoscopies and not mentioned by the endoscopists often times. They may have also been much smaller by the time of your colonoscopy. Ask your endoscopist what he/she thinks is going on.

I have a colonoscopy coming up but I have a few questions. I have a clear oily foul smelling leakage from my rectum an oily stools is it steatorhea?

I have a colonoscopy coming up but I have a few questions. I have a clear oily foul smelling leakage from my rectum an oily stools is it steatorhea?

Does it float?: Does this oily leakage float on top of the toilet water? If so, it is steatorrhea. There are specific tests that you can do to check for steatorrhea. If present, this can be a sign of a deficiency in the enzymes that your pancreas gland produces.

Had a colonoscopy a 2 week ago. A large polyp was removed 5 inches inside, no problems until last few days, very sore in the rectum, no blood.

Getting better/worse: ?? if worse, would definitely go see your GI doc. Did you get constipated after the procedure perhaps? Sometimes straining can lead to more painful hemorrhoids. Make sure you know what your polyp was as well (tubular adenoma, tubulovilleous adenoma, any dysplastic changes) and when they want you back.

Possible recurrence: Colonoscopy requires cleaning of bowel with a form of laxative followed by distention of bowel by forcing gas up the rectum. If there was a previous abscess the new signs may represent recurrence of the abscess and this followed by passage of residual irrigant used to clean bowel.

Is this UC? Colonoscopy report: PR normal. Granular mucosa in the rectum & sigmoid (reduced vascular pattern). Subtle rectal & sigmoid inflammation.

Is this UC? Colonoscopy report: PR normal. Granular mucosa in the rectum & sigmoid (reduced vascular pattern). Subtle rectal & sigmoid inflammation.

Biopsy will show: Diagnosis of Ulcerative colitis is complex and has to be verified by the biopsy findings (your dr most likely had taken multiple biopsies from different parts of the colon and sent them to the pathologist for examination)

Bleeding from rectum, negative colonoscopy, gastrointestinal Dr is puzzled....any ideas? Nearly every time I got to the bathroom says even hemroids ok

Bleeding from rectum, negative colonoscopy, gastrointestinal Dr is puzzled....any ideas? Nearly every time I got to the bathroom says even hemroids ok

Why?: Why the puzzle I can guarantee you you have a fissure that is causing the bleeding. First negative colonoscopy is a good news you eliminate the cancer or any other causes of GI bleeding. Try to keep your bowls soft and not to worry about it the bleeding will keep happening on and off. Nothing you can do about it you can always ask for a Colo- Rectal surgeon opinion
