This implies that the hormones your taking into your body have a very similar chemical structure to the hormones that are already present in your body. Bioidentical hormones are traditionally given in a cream base and absorbed through the skin. Depending on what base they're put into most are absorbed in somewhere between 15 and 45 seconds. The advantage of absorbing through the skin is that they don't have to pass through the liver at which time some of the compound will be broken down and not be able to be utilized by the body. Unlike traditional hormone replacement therapy, which has been associated with a multiplicity of problems, that is not the case for natural hormone therapy.
