If I am having ankle surgery at 1 pm and am having a block, can I eat a little something early in the morning?
Ask your surgeon!: Most anesthesia providers require an empty stomach for at least 6-8 hours before surgery. Although you are having a block, you may well also be receiving sedation via intravenous, and this could make you drowsy enough to lose part of your gag reflex, allowing vomit to enter your lungs. Bad! And what if things go poorly with the block and they want to put you to sleep? Now it's unsafe if you ate! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

But the simplest solution is to honor your body's feedback and not eat until 10 am; this may change over time even without treatment. ...Read more

What can cause lower abdomen pains for several days after normal monthly period? Pain is worse after I eat, early in the morning, and after to much movement. I have taken ibuprofen, pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) on the first couple of days.
There are many possible causes of lower abdominal pain. These include urinary tract infection (uti), peptic ulcer, infection, ovarian cysts, etc. Etc. The fact that it is worse in the am and after eating leads me to lean towards a gastritis or ulcer. You should stop the Ibuprofen as it can cause further abdominal pain. You should be evaluated by your doctor to find the cause of your problems and begin appropriate treatment.
Best of luck. ...Read more

I have early morning heartburn a lot. Not taking PPI drugs due to C-Diff infection. What can I do. I Raised my bed. Eat small meals and nothing spicy.
C Diff and PPI's: There is a moderate amount of evidence that C. difficile infection is more common in PPI users. You can try H2 blockers, such as Zantac, (ranitidine) but if your symptoms persist unabated, your physician will need to decide whether the symptoms you're having outweigh the increased risk of C. difficile infection.
