Does amitriptyline work well for hypochondria? I'm only on 10mg, x4 weeks. Not helping much, brought my appetite back, thats it. Can i take citalopram 10mg in morning and amtriptyline 10mg at bedtime?
Need therapy too: Amitriptylene does not "work for hypochondria" per se, but it can decrease certain physical symptoms like anxiety, insomnia, and loss of appetite. Individual psychotherapy is essential in hypochondriasis, so you learn to work with anxiety in healthy ways. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Talk w UR prescriber: Transient side effects can occur early on in treatment, but at 4 weeks they should have gone away. It sounds like you are not tolerating the medication very well. You are on a starting dose so you can stop it without problem, but the best advice would be to consult your prescriber to determine other options. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

SSRI: This antidepressant should not be causing night sweats, but anything can happen. Would discuss this with the doctor who prescribed it. Also might help to take your temperature before the time at which the sweats occur (sweats reduce temperature) and if you have fever it may be due to the drug or to something else for which you need to be evaluated. ...Read more
