Hypoglycemia.: You might be right about that vicious cycle. You might be better served ingesting small meals containing complex carbohydrates and fiber every two hours or so. Remember, simple sugars in excess can trigger hypoglycemia. Complex carbohydrates would not cause insulin spikes and would give you sustained energy during your exercise. ...Read more

Too much protein: Eating pure protein without any carbs does cause a drop in sugar shortly after eating. Protein needs to be balanced with some carbs to prevent this.
