How Does Interferon Work As A Treatment For Hepatitis
Immune modulator: In the treatment of hepatitis c viral infection, interferon works as an immune modulator or immune stimulator, but must be used simultaneously with other drugs such as Ribavirin and telapravir (incivek) or bocepravir (victrelis). Interferon used by itself has virtually no effect in hepatitis c. The addition of the direct-acting antivirals (incivek and victrelis) has greatly improved the response. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hepatitis is an inflammatory condition of the liver. Almost all cases are caused by viruses, including most commonly hepatitis a, hepatitis b, and hepatitis c, or by toxins (eg alcohol). The liver swells, it doesn't work properly leading to a failure to detoxify some biochemical substances, and a failure to excrete bilirubin, leading to jaundice. Some cases are fatal, ...Read more

Hep C Rx: Treatment options include: Direct antiviral agents (DAA's). DAA's are a group of different antiviral agents taken orally for a much shorter period of time than the other medications and will probably revolutionize the treatment of Hep C. Both new pills - Olysio (simeprevir) and Sovaldi (sofosbuvir) - work better than the current treatment for hepatitis C. They cure it more often & in less time ...Read more
Depends: That depends on which genotype of hcv you have. I before got interferon injection for my hepatitis b 3 to 4 years ago but its too expensive is there any other alternative that is cheaper?
I doubt: All the anti-viral meds are, unfortunately, very expensive as all of them are brand names. I am positive that there are different manufacturer and state sponsored programs that may help you pay for the meds. When i was doing my training for hep. C treatment, drug reps were trying to assure us that they will help any uninsured patient get his meds. Try them. It doesn't hurt to ask! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
