How Does Having An Iud Affect The Abortion Pill I Want A Backup
The pill Not needed: Iud is highly effective...For example: Mirena (levonorgestrel) touts over 99% effecacy! thus adding a morning-after pill is not needed..Benefit is next to nil..Ie..Adding a dollar to your million does not make much of a difference. Nevertheless, this pill should not have an effect on your iud. Adding a condom is much cheaper and safer--reducing risks of STDs etc...If u r still concerned, consult doc..Goog luck. ...Read more
No.: The major way the iud works is not through aborting conceived fetuses. They both work primarily by thickening the cervical mucus to prevent the sperm from fertilizing eggs. The copper iud has more of a possibility of causing abortion of a conceptus (fertilized egg) than does the progestin iud. But they are not primarily abortifacients. ...Read more

Abortion 8 weeks ago, IUD inserted. Iud taken out 4 days ago due to infection. Since then bleeding VERY heavy(pad every2hrs) on meds.is this normal!?
No: Some transitory heavy bleeding might be normal but if your bleeding does not improve within 24 hours, I suggest seeing your medical provider or at least calling the office. If you are lightheaded, or feeling overall worse, weak, fever or chest pain or shortness of breath or any new worrisome symptoms you should be seen ASAP ...Read more

IUD-Mirena-inserted May 15/14 following abortion.Period is normally on time since IUD was done.Period was due Nov 3/14-3 days ago-.Pregnancy possible?
Possible not likely : There is no contraceptive method that doesn't have failures. However, the Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD contains a progestin which makes periods much shorter and lighter almost to the point of being non-existent. It is much more likely that that is what is going on but you can always check a pregnancy test to be sure. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Infertile? I just recently got my IUD out so me and my fiance could conceive I have been pregnant before and i got an abortion and i also have had chlamydia a few times could those factors cause me to be infertile?
Hello. : Hello. These issues can impact fertility. However, if the iud was just removed, this means that you have not been working very long to become pregnant (and the iud can have an impact as well). It is too early to say you are not fertile. Infertility is defined as not achieving pregnancy after 12 months of having fairly frequent, unprotected sex (or after at least 6 months if over age 35). Suggest that you talk with your doctor about how these issues could impact your desire to become pregnant. Take care. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have had a copper IUD since my abortion. I now have heartburn every day and i spotted after my period. Could i be pregnant?
Possible: Iuds do not provide 100% effectiveness. Hopefully you had a sting check 6 weeks after placement to confirm you didn't expel it. In addition, i won't usually use a copper iud in women your age because of the higher std risk. Even married women under age 25 have a higher than usual rate of stds. Check a pregnancy test and see a gynecologist. ...Read more

I switched from Aviane to an IUD this month. I still have like 9 packs of Aviane left that I won't need. How should I dispose extra pills?
Dispose or Donate: Most towns have prescription drug disposal sites. Call your pharmacist or local health department. Some indigent health centers might accept unused/unopened medications to donate to patients. However, newer medication documentation regulations have made that harder for clinicians to do.
