Been constipated for 2 or 3 days. I took a Dulcolax this morning & it didn't work. So I took 2 teaspoons of benefiber and still no change. What to do?
Go on liquids: Diet only and eliminate caffeine and alcohol both of which contribute to constipation. Take some milk of magnesia 1-2 tbsp every 12 hours until cleaned out. You can use it daily for weeks/months as needed once you figure out how much you need & how often to take it.Dulcolax can help you go but I find it less consumer friendly. ...Read more

StartedSomething: The half-life (time it takes for the dose given to decrease by half) for dulcolax is 8 hrs. You gave your son a stimulant laxative to initiate bowel movements after a period of constipation, it stands to reason that they are going to continue to be moving until the lowest effective dose is gone. ...Read more
