How Does Benzoyl Peroxide Work To Clear Up Acne
Kills bacteria: Benzoyl peroxide creates oxygen when in contact with skin. The bacteria causing acne cannot live in the presence of oxygen so actually dies. It also assists in removing dead cells that cause the pores to get plugged which also leads to acne formation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
So my acne recently flared up and I haven't had clear skin for over a month now i've tried using clindamycin, benzaclin, (clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide) but they don't seem to work?
Next level: Ask your physician whether it is appropriate to add to your treatment regimen a topical treatment that includes both Clindamycin and a retinoic acid derivative, and begin an oral antibiotic. Since you're male, consider tetracycline 250 mg twice a day -- it kept me reasonably clear for 25 years. Good luck -- today all acne can be treated effectively. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Are there any home remedies for treating acne? Or is it most effective to treat with OTC products such as; clean & clear, stridex, clearasil, (benzoyl peroxide) etc?
Acne: Home remedies i don't know. Medically you have to know first whether acne is mild, moderate or severe. If mild and moderate use stridex in am and clearsil in pm. If acne is cystic, nodular or recalcitrant, please see dermatologist for other options. Thanks. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Limited help: These products are mostly benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid which are both pretty good for starters. If you have acne on your trunk, or if you're not clear in two weeks, get with your physician for prescription-strength treatment. It won't touch your scars, and the fact that you have scarring (sorry it was neglected) suggests that probably you'll end up needing prescription-strength rx now. ...Read more
Does oil cleansing method really works on acne? I'm using benzoyl peroxide right now. It's harsh on my skin though.
Scientific Rx: Spending a long time massaging castor oil or whatever into your face isn't going to help nearly as much as what your' physician is ready to do for you. You'll need to continue to use benzoyl peroxide though it's not pleasant, but probably adding an antibiotic will clear you. If this isn't sufficient, I would urge you to consider isotretinoin. Acne's a major liability in today's world. Be wise. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Benzoyl & acne scar: No - benzoyl peroxide will treat acne and help prevent worsening pustules and inflammation by helping to kill the bacteria causing acne. However, it won't have any effect on the scars you may get from aggressively picking or popping "zits" There are facial scrubs that may lessen the appearance of scars but a physician trained in skin peels would be needed for deep scars ...Read more
Sort-of: Acne on the back usually require an antibiotic in addition to benzoyl peroxide or whatever non-antibiotic you prefer. How long does it take for acne to clear up when using benzaclin (clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide)?
How can it take for you to clear up your acne when using benzaclin (clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide)?
Can you advise an acne medication that contains salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide? I had clear skin, and now I am suddenly breaking out!
Two products: These are two effective ingredients in acne treatments, but they work differently and I don't think are usually combined in the same product. Salicyclic acid aids exfoliation and prevents clogged pores. Benzoyl peroxide works by killing bacteria that cause breakouts. They are both very drying so figuring out how much of each your skin can handle is important. I think you need two products:) ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have a acne prone skin.my doctor prescribed me benzoyl peroxide 2.5gel.hydrogel cleanser and isotretinoin does all the things can clear all my acne?
Good regimen: The skin care regimen you have been prescribed is a fairly standard combination of acne medications that typically help most people. Excessive dryness is not uncommon at the start of therapy, but can be minimized by a non-comedogenic moisturizer such as Cetaphil. Stick with it, as transient flare ups after 30 days are common but generally not recurrent. ...Read more
