What kind of urine drainage would I use for my nephrostomy tube?

What happens during nephrostomy tube insertion?

Several steps.: Nephrostomy tubes are most often placed by interventional radiologists (ir). First, you may receive a mild sedative. Ir uses fluoroscopes to find the kidney. Hi dr. I have a friend that have ovarian cancer but I don't kno what stage. She have nephrostomy tube placed in. What is life expectancy for her?

Ovarian cancer: You are so good to be worried about your friend.
if she has a nephrostomy tube, it means that the cancer is likely stage 3 at least. Ovarian cancer is bad, but it can be beaten by a really aggressive surgery and chemo before or after. Life expectancy really depends on how a person responds to the treatment. As docs we really hate to give life expectancy numbers (since then it proves wrong often) ...Read more

Nephrostomy: The kidney most definitely moves up and down with respirations. It is likely that this is the source of your discomfort with deep breaths. I have a nephrostomy tube and when I lay down I get pain severe pain. Pain just started. In right place. Waiting for doc to call tomorrow. Ideas why?

Can be painful: Just presence of nephrostomy tube can cause pain, especially if it was recently placed. Failure of tube to drain properly as result of tube migration, blockage or partial blockage cab be painful. Just discharged w/Nephrostomy Tube. CT and scope both show mass/stone in L kidney, irregularly shaped, jagged edge and is 6.9mm. 2nd Sepsis treatment?

Antibiotics = sepsis: The antibiotics are used to treat sepsis or infections in the kidney; the nephrostomy tubes are used to relieve blockages, in this case probably caused by the masses or stones. The two problems may be related, but are treated separately; and u can get one (blockage) without the other (sepsis). TTYD and Urologist to see what shd be done. Hi, I have twin girls that are 11 months old and one of them just came home from the hospital, the other one likes to pull on her tubes, suggestions?

Create obstacles: To pulling on the tubes. You can wrap the site with gauze, cover with clothing that the other twin cannot get into readily, secure the proximal end of the tube to a layer of clothing and place another layer over it. If you are dealing with nasal tubing, you will have to keep them far enough apart that the twin cannot reach her sister's tubing. Always be sure YOU can get to and inspect the tubes. ...Read more

What is it called when a hospital refuses to put a tracheotomy tube into this child's trachea so the parents can take the child home?

Need more information: We can't answer this question without more detailed information about the case. But since there seems to be a disagreement between the doctors taking care of the child and the parents, this service is probably not a good place to get a second opinion. If you question the decision of the care providers, you may need to involve an ethic committee to review the case or request a second opinion from another specialist. Good luck, I hope the child eventually recovers! ...Read more
