How Do You Reduce Skin Peeling While Using Differin Gel
Change treatments.: Differin (adapalene) also comes in cream form - creams are less drying than gels. If the cream still causes peeling, use less of it, or apply it at bedtime, or both. If it still dries your skin, ask your dermatologist for a different treatment. Trying to neutralize a drying skin treatment with moisturizers is an exercise in futility, and defeats the whole purpose. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I use salicylic acid 20% on spots. If i neutralise & wash my face, can I use differin (adapalene) as well without irritation?
Maybe: The salicylic acid is not neutralized as you do with glycolic acid. The absorption is fast and it crystalizes quickly. The addition of differin (adapalene) is placing Retin-A on the area. The combination is often used for acne but either together or alone can cause dry flaky skin. ...Read more
Skin dryness: Skin dryness is a common effect when Retin-A is used even at normal dosing. I doubt any effect from the topical erythromycin. Sometimes reducing the total hours left on the face or reducing the strength of the med can help, or using it every other day. If you are happy with the overall improvement in your skin, you may want to just work with it & try some hydrating agents during the day. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Does lacticare-hc lotion 1% reduce the apperance of excema scars? Or should I use scar creams specifically meant to treat scars?
Yes & No: Lacticare hc will improve the appearance of eczema scars but it is not good for long term use as the steroids can thin the dermis and cause other problems. Scar creams specifically meant to treat scars would be a better choice. Start slowly: Retin a (tretinoin) is an excellent medication for acne of all stages. However, it is almost universally drying and irritating when someone is getting started. Go very slowly and only use a "pea-size" amount to the facial skin. It should be applied at bedtime. Clindamycin is usually applied at a separate time (am) after cleansing the face. Clindamycin is more tolerable. See a dermatologist. ...Read more
When using Tretinoin 0.05% cream to reduce wrinkles, can you use other night creams as well? If so, which do you apply first and how long in between?
Yes: I love tretinoin for skin rejuvenation! I generally recommend that my patients wash their face in the evening, apply a toner and then the tret. I then recommend that you wait 15 minutes before applying other creams on top of the tret. If you get skin irritation from the tret you can "cut" it with a moisturizer. for more on facial rejuvenation see: http://www.omahacosmeticsurgery.com/face/ ...Read more

Also make sure the skin is dry prior to applying acne medications, as they can irritate damp or wet skin. If the skin is still dry and your acne meds are working well for you, try an oil-free non-comedogenic facial lotion. ...Read more
