How can we tell that a 10month old child is infected with TB disease?

How can we tell that a 10month old child is infected with TB disease?

Risk factors: A 10 month old child has to either have a TB diseased mother, or have a very close contact living with him who has tb. More than likely there is travel involved. If there is close contact with a person with tb, then a PPD test or a chest xray can be done on the baby to determine the presence of TB or the risk of TB exposure. Generally if somebody close has tb, they will test. ...Read more

If you reach a year without conception, that's when to see a doctor for possible fertility evaluation. In any case, your past TB or TB drugs aren't the cause, assuming your TB didn't involve the lower abdomen and cause scarring or blockage of your fallopian tubes. ...Read more

When exposed to TB but not infected (negative skin test), should your husband and child be checked also?

When exposed to TB but not infected (negative skin test), should your husband and child be checked also?

Won't hurt, likely -: If you were passively exposed to TB but negative on skin test, it is unlikely that you could pass any TB on to your family. It is a slow growing germ & harder to pass than most. That said, it never hurts to screen populations that may have had an unknown exposure (including your family) the cdc recommendations for screening would stop with you for this case. ...Read more

Please help me, my kid ,4/5 years old, had icecream of brain TB infected person. I m single parent, please tell me is brain TB contagious?

Depends on stage: Typically a person had tuberculosis for a while before it develops into meningitis. If the child has been around this person prior then they definitely need to be screened for TB. If this person has had TB meningitis for some time and has been undergoing treatment they are not contagious and your child will be fine. Your child will not develop straight TB meningitis either way. ...Read more

Can TB come from living with an infected person?

Yes: If you are exposed to someone with active TB infection involving the lungs, then there is a risk for your inhaling the TB bug & getting infected. Once this infected person has received effective therapy for at least 2 months and is no longer sputum positive, the risk of transmission drops significantly. Other forms of TB (bone, lymph node etc.) not involving lungs are generally not contagious. ...Read more
