Is there anything I can give my 7 month old baby so she can spit mucus out that's making her cough?

Is there anything I can give my 7 month old baby so she can spit mucus out that's making her cough?

This sucks: If you find any way to teach a 7 month old to "spit", you'll win a nobel prize in medicine. They cannot nor can they be taught to do that at that tender age. You have to suck it out for them. If they cough and/or gag on mucous and you can hear it in the back of their throats or in their mouths, take the bulb syringe for nose sucking and use it in mouth & throat. This will clear the secretions. ...Read more

My 5 month old has a really bad cough. I took him to his pediatrician. The doctor said nothing is wrong. How do you get rid of an infant cough?

Many things help: You can put a humidifier in the room (cool mist is best), raise the head of the crib a few inches, and a number of other things depending on what the cause is. Problems in babies can look different from one day to the next. If there is trouble breathing, poor feeding, irritability or fever, see your pediatrician again. ...Read more

I have a 7 month old baby, she's been coughing a lot recently. What can I give her?

Very little: If the cough only happens when laying down, then this could be from drainage, using nasal saline drops with suction may help. If there are signs of distress between cough (tugging in between the ribs when breathing deep or at the notch in the neck) then take her/him to the doctor. ...Read more

My 7 month old baby has croup what is the best way to treat it as we have rain and hummed weather in the middle of summer?

Comfort measures: Croup is caused by a virus, so like a cold. The best thing to do is keep your baby comfortable. Use pain relievers as needed. Make sure your baby drinks plenty of fluids. If your baby is having difficulty breathing, can't stop coughing or is not drinking or eating well, take him to the doctor. ...Read more

My 7 month old baby Sounds like she has a lot of phlegm Sounds Like It's hard To swallow and she's coughing Could I Have gotten her sick since im sick?

You both got sick!: Not unusual for mom & baby to catch the same germs at the same time. But you never REALLY know where the germs came from (don't blame yourself!). Of course good habits like washing hands are important all the time. But right now, most important is the baby's symptoms: does she have increased effort breathing? (fast breathing or looks like she's winded)? If so, see doc right away! ...Read more

My infant boy has picked up an ugly cough. How can I treat it? He's 23w (19 corrected) 2nd vaccines done 2 days ago. No fever or vomitting

Treatment varies: There are no cold and cough treatments for infants. All of the over the counter medications have no effect and can be harmful to your baby. First have your baby examined at his Doctor to make sure that he does not have any signs of infection. If symptoms are viral then normal saline for the nose and humidified air can be helpful. If you are breastfeeding that is the best medicine. ...Read more
