How Do I Tape My Knee For Hockey
Depends: Taping of a joint varies based on the desired outcome. Taping to stabilize the patella (kneecap) is different than taping to prevent hyperextension, which is different than taping to stabilize a collateral ligament. This is also a skill that requires much experience to do properly. Consult with your athletic trainer. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What do you advise if i sprained my right knee playing basketball last friday. Do I have to do rehab for it?
Appropriate recovery: If you sprained your knee playing basketball, you should rest the knee joint and avoid sport participation presently. Rest, ice, anti-inflammatory medications as well as stretching and strengthening of muscle groups around the knee joint are all sensible steps to recover. You do not necessarily need rehab. You do however need full recovery before returning to sport play. Seek advice if worried. ...Read more
What to do if i dislocated my pinkie while playing basketball. Pinkie was and how do I take care of it?
Be seen: Even if you feel like you have " popped" it back in position, I would encourage you to be seen for a follow up exam and X-ray. The X-ray would be helpful to ensure it is well reduced and that there is no associated fracture. You don't want to have any long term problems with it. ...Read more
I dislocated my pinkie while playing basketball. Pinkie was and how do I take care of it, what to do?
An MRI would show: A tear, but with good knowledge and technique, an ultrasound can pick this up too. Unless the tendon is completely torn in two, you'll still be able to move your toe with a partial tear. Tendons have a poor blood supply and take long to heal, so don't wait on this if you think you have a tear. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I was playing basketball and caused a minor sprain on my ankle yesterday and I have a baseball try-out tomorrow how do I heal it quick ?
RICE, RICE, baby: You can't speed up the biology of healing, but rest, ice regularly (20min every hour), gently place an ace wrap on your ankle, and keep your ankle elevated higher than your heart as much as possible. One day may not be enough time to recover but will give you best chance. When you do go back, use an ankle brace with laces and crisscrossing straps for added support. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I was playing football yesterday and i went to tackle someone and my shoulder popped out of socket. How do I treat this?
RICE: At your age (not that you are old) i would sling it for a week and see how it feels. Try to avoid throwing motion. If you have pain that continues and is laterally based you could have torn your rotator cuff. Recurrent instability is going to be less likely. Seek a shoulder specialist if your pain continues following period of rest, ice and nsaids. ...Read more
How can I redo my jones dressing? I injured my Achilles and my knee. Dressing is coming off and i don't know what i need to rewrap it.
R.I.C.E. + X-RAYS: As it appears you are in the acute stage of injury, the first thing you need to do is treat the pain and swelling. Rice=rest, ice, compression, and elevation. It is most like quite stiff and bruised at this point. I always treat this with an unna boot. This is a soft cast. (zinc oxide paste impregnated gauze) it decreases the swelling and if also decreases the inflammation. I advise x-rays! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes: The best thing is to ice, ace wrap, elevate right away. There is usually a picture on the box but you an simply start just below the toes and wrap around overlapping the ace by 50% until it goes above the ankle almost to mid calf. Not too tight! just enough to apply gentle compression. Pain not letting you bear weight is a sign to take you to the doctor's office. ...Read more
