That's fine if...: If a person works the 3 - 11 p.m. shift, and then does other things until about 5 a.m., it's fine to sleep 5 a.m. to noon. You are young and: likely have issues with stress and coping problems. Those are the most common reasons for a young woman to have insomnia. Your hormones just don't allow you to do that unless psychologically something else is "blocking" your hormones from carrying out the circadian rhythm. Not : Not sleeping well is a very frustrating condition. You may have already tried not drinking caffeine after noon, not exercising too close to bedtime, and not using your computer or tv within an hour of bedtime. Consider adding "white noise" such as a fan. Be sure that your room is cool and not overly warm. Eating light during the day, then having a larger meal at around 7 pm or so can be helpful.
