Excess iodine will: Stimulate the thyroid gland to work harder. If you have not had total ablation, and assuming you have some residual however small synthetic activity in the glands, you will notice an increase in thyroid function with your Synthroid, (thyroxine) perhaps mild hyperthyroid symptoms as well. Seek a second opinio: A second opinion from a Thyroid specialist (endocrinologist) will help and guide you better. I personally do not favor radioactive iodine unless the tumor was advanced or spread outside of the Thyroid gland which it does not appear to be.
