This could: be a viral syndrome> (patients with Lupus do get viral infections at the same or slightly higher rate than the general population!) Do you have a fever?? Any contacts with people who were (are) ill??? Any travel?? Did recent labs include a CBC (Complete Blood Count) If so what was the White Cell count/Differential?? More info needed Hope this helps! May not be lupus: Just because you have lupus does not mean everything that happens to you is due to lupus. YOu are a normal person who also has lupus but you can have other medical problems. This could be chronic fatigue syndroem but it could be something else. See you physician and your rheumatologist to clarify this ...Read more

Adherence to medication regimens, good sleep hygiene, and compliance with recommended testing are important. SLE : Confusion and dizziness are common symptoms with many causes. When they occur during every lupus flair the SLE is the most likely cause. These symptoms can also be caused by steroids used to treat SLE flairs as well as other medications. You did not say how often your flairs occur or how long they last. You may want to discuss options to prevent these flairs with your rheumatologist. ...Read more

Depends on flare: The answer to this depends on the nature of the flare, what areas are involved and how serious the flare is. Do you have to be in a flare to test positive for Lupus?

Lupus : There are different tests for lupus. Diagnostic tests which can be positive even if you don't have a flare. Then there are test to determine disease activity which can be abnormal during flares. Mind you that a diagnosis of lupus depends on history, clinical exam in addition to lab. I was diagnosed with lupus while living in Egypt. I tried to get a diagnosis here in US but it was negative. However im sure im having a bad flare.

See a Rheumatologist: You Don, t say how they arrived at the diagnosis in Egypt or what your symptoms are or what a flare consists of. It is worth noting that the diagnosis is not made by blood test alone, but by a set of tests, symptoms and physical findings. A Rheumatogist can figure this out. A positive or negative lupus test alone is not the way to diagnose. ...Read more
