Detox: Only detox of illegal drugs work according to scientifically proven and accepted methods. There is no other need to detox substances that medicine do not consider necessity to "detox". Those you mention are not acknowledged by sciences and are a waste of money and also bring you health risk. Be careful when talked into treatment by non-physicians. ...Read more
rids some poop: Yeah, this was a popular idea in ancient egypt, but was disproved decades ago. You will get rid of some stool. No one ever measured "toxins" supposedly removed before and after the rx to see if it worked. Pt of mine insisted on high colonics as bowel prep for colonoscopy-failed; had redo the prep and the procedure. Empty bowel may look flatter, maybe you feel better, but not detoxed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
If i wash out bile in my system by using an enema is it a good thing? Is it cleansing/detoxing my system at all in a good way?
Enema won't rid bile: An enema has about a zero chance of reaching the duodenum where the bile duct enters the GI tract from your liver. Assuming you're healthy, your liver, kidneys, and GI tract do a fine job of "detoxing" your system all on their own! (how did our cave man ancestors ever manage to get by without cleansing or detoxing?) eat well and let your body work naturally. You do not need "detoxing.". ...Read more

Just live: There's no shortage of people who want to make money by telling you that your body is full of "poisons". There's little reason to think the chemicals on which our way of life depends accumulate to our harm or can be removed by weird practices. I'm glad you see through the enema nonsense & odd pills. Think about really getting aerobically fit -- being inactive really is toxic in many ways. ...Read more

Go exercise: Your body actually detoxifies itself. I'm glad you're focused on recovering after perhaps overindulging in food and maybe alcohol. But none of the disgusting concoctions that people will try to sell you will help you any near as much as getting back into the fitness-focused lifestyle that you enjoyed so much as a teenager. The cruciferous vegetables include broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, and cabbage. The inherent sulfur molecules help the liver to work much more effectively. Lemon juice helps the bile ducts put out more bile and helps the kidneys remove more in the urine. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Don't believe in it: In my opinion, and based on my training, experience and reading of the literature, we are NOT filled chock full of toxins, and we do not need to do anything to get them out, in general. There are people exposed to toxic substances like heavy metals, where medical procedures to get those out are needed, but this idea that every organ needs "detox" is not supported by any science that I know of. ...Read more
