Exercise & Rehab: I am assuming your post surgery or injury. Once cleared by your doctor to do so gentle range of motion exercises with the fingers and hand will help re-establish full movement. Exercises like squeezing a raquet ball or working theraputty (or silly putty if your cheap like me) will help. If your not improving physical therapy, hand therapy or occupational therapy may help. Is an X-ray necessary for a jammed 5th toe if there is tenderness over the dip joint but not over the pip joint?
My left index (proximal interphalangeal joint and metacarpophalangeal joint) I have pain when i bend the finger. My RA factor is normal.
Reduction: It needs to be properly reduced this may require open surgical procedure in some cases or may respond to closed manipulation. Tough fix: You didn't say how this happened. If your pip joint is subluxed or out of position, that is not reduced, pt is unlikely to help.If you are not making progress after 2 months of therapy discuss this with your doctor. Skin creases on finger(lower side&back)seem stretched/more evident, after 1month coban wrap(pip joint), while normal movement&stretching.What can I do?
The pip joint: Creases on top of the finger can go "missing" for a time if the joint is swollen and stiff. The skin there is very flexible and if the jointis bent a little or the joint is full the creases look different. Any more symptoms??: Is it painful, red looking, tender? Any injury? Any limitation of motion? Any other joints ( same hand or the other side or any other joints, like wrist/elbow, ankle, feet or knees?
