How can you get rid of a planter wart at home? It is painful and has grown within the last couple days.

How can you get rid of a planter wart at home? It is painful and has grown within the last couple days.

Warts, : Warts, especially plantar warts, can be very stubborn and difficult to get rid of. They do what they want, and they make me look like an idiot. There are many treatments for plantar warts, including freezing, burning, cutting, needling, using acids, blistering agents, chemotherapy agents, vitamins, even duct tape. Whenever you see a lot of different treatments for one problem in medicine, it means we don't know what to do. If there were one best treatment, that would be what everyone would use. But they all stink. Your best bet, of course, is to see a podiatrist or dermatologist. Not all warty-looking lesions are warts, so it's nice to get a diagnosis before you try messing with it. Having said that, if you want to try practicing medicine without a license, you can try to put a weak acid on the thing. Look for 17% salicylic acid that is combined with flexible collodion and ether. I believe compound w now contains all three of these ingredients. Dab it on twice a day. In a few days, the area will turn white, which is the first degree burn you want to give yourself. After a couple of weeks, you'll have enough white, dead tissue to remove. Here's the part most people need a doctor for: the white dead tissue needs to be removed so that the acid can work on a deeper area. Doctors remove this dead tissue with a scalpel. You should not! you can carefully try to scrape away the dead tissue with either a pumice stone or a nail file or emery board. Needless to say, don't use that scraping device on anything or anyone else. Wash the area thoroughly with soap and water immediately after scraping, because scraping tends to spread the wart virus around. This process can go on for months. If you're really determined to treat this thing yourself, set a limit for yourself, like, say, a month, after which time, if you don't see any progress, you'll promise me you'll seek real, live medical treatment and not screw around with it, ok? Promise? ...Read more

What is the best way to get rid of warts.?

Many options: The best remedy for starters (this is true) is duct tape. Cover the wart with a piece of tape and leave it on until it falls off. This will not only (usually) get rid of the wart it is covering but also can cause distant warts to shrink. If this fails, there are over the counter wart shrinking solutions and as a last resort, see a dermatologist. ...Read more
