Can you get lung cancer from smoking nutmeg?

Can you get lung cancer from smoking nutmeg?

People smoke nutmeg?: Boy, i'm such a small town square... I have no idea what is mixed in that or if its pure but my gut answer is: neither god nor evolution (your pick) made lungs as receptacles for burnt or burning particles. I would assume any inhaled combusting substance has a myriad of toxins that will damage the lung short or long term. Don't smoke nutmeg or for that matter parsley, sage, rosemary, or thyme. ...Read more

How do you get lung cancer? If you don't smoke? Myparents smoked, but i always hated the way the stuff smelled. When i got older, i made them go outside to smoke, and i haven't been around smokers in years. Sohow could I have lung cancer?

I : I agree with dr. Leeman's answer entirely. Clearly, the most common cause of lung cancer is due to cigarette smoking. As an added piece of information, exposure to radon gas, usually by way of poorly vented basements, is one of the more likely causes of lung cancer when smoking is not a factor. You live in cook county, illinois and in general, it is listed as a county with moderate potential for levels of radon (in the range of 2-4 pci/l). You may want to have your home assessed for radon levels and if they are elevated have a reputable radon mitigation company discuss options for your home - usually a simple venting system is all that is needed. ...Read more

See below: 15% of all lung cancers occur in never smokers. Epidemiological studies suggest that environmental toxic exposures (radon, second hand smoke, pollution etc) can be linked; however, for a given individual it is hard to establish a definite link; the biology of lc in never smokers is different and there are certain molecular features that may make it more responsive to certain drugs;. ...Read more

How can someone get lung cancer who has never smoked?

We don't know: Although smoking is by far the greatest risk factor for lung cancer, not every lung cancer patient has a smoking history. Unfortunately the lack if cigarette exposure does not completely rule out the possibility of lung cancer. ...Read more
