Also try over the counter anti-inflammatories like Ibuprofen if your able to. If the swelling does not resolve in a few days see your physician. Ankle swelling : The key thing to remember is whenever you sprain your ankle or knee is to rice: rest, ice. Compression and elevate your foot. This is important to do especially in the first 3 days of the injury. Your ankle and knee will swell because of the injury. Get an ace wrap to wrap around your ankle. If it is towards the bk, it sounds like u cd have strained the Flexor Digitorum Longus (FDL) tendon which runs from behind the knee to the medial (inner) part of the mid foot. Evaluate arthritis: There are a few possibilities however it is likely that the unoperated leg was compensating. This increased load of work may have led to you developing early arthritis or hamstring tightness. This spasm due to the leg length discrepancy may be causing the night pain.
