How Can Men Increase Prolactin
I would like to know if using whey protein and bcaa to work out can increase the level of prolactin in a men (22, 2 ng/ml)? Thank you.
In males "assuming" a man got prolactin pills or injection, what do you think, will that raise or lower his estrogen levels?
No Effect: Estrogens levels will not be raised. Free testosterone will. ...Read more
See answer: Low levels of prolactin are normal in men. High levels, however, can interfere with the male hormone testosterone. Lowered testosterone levels cause loss of sexual desire and low sperm counts. Impotence can occur as well as fatigue and loss of muscle mass and strength. Also, it can lead to decreased bone density and swelling of the mammary glands in men. ...Read more
Is there any recent research about what purpose prolactin serves in men or whether low prolactin levels are harmful for them?
Turned 42 last wk. 5 weeks late. 2 neg hCG tests. On day 7/10 provera (medroxyprogesterone). Will I get w/d bleed? Thyr, prolactin and estrogen normal. FSH was 30? Peri men?
Maybe: Yes you may get withdrawal bleeding when you stop Provera (medroxyprogesterone). FSH 30 is a little high - possible early menopause. Several reasons why period may be delayed: stress, thyroid hormone deficiency, excessive weight loss over a short time, strenuous physical activity as in athletes, pregnancy, or menopause. ...Read more
My last mens period was on 27th nov. And I've 9days delayed. My hormone levels are tsh:1.35 prolactin:20.86 fsh:4.3 estradiol:64, 36 are they norml?
Prolactin high?: Depending on the normal range of the lab at which testing was done, the prolactin level may be just slightly elevated. The rest of the hormone levels are normal. A high prolactin level can interfere with ovulation ; lead to infertility. Because your elevation is so slight, usually we would repeat the test to verify the result. Prolactin levels are most accurate when drawn about 9-10 am. ...Read more
I just turned 42. 5 weeks late and put on provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 10mg/10 days to induce period. Thyroid, prolactin, estrogen good. FSH level was at 30. Peri men?
Menopause: You did not say whether taking Provera (medroxyprogesterone) brought on your period. If it did, it means you still have reasonable estrogen production. However, the FSH level of 30 is consistent with starting menopause. However, you must make sure you are not pregnant if Provera (medroxyprogesterone) did not bring on your period. ...Read more
Can dostinex (cabergoline) be used in men to decrease the ejaculation refractory period? Prolactin level is at the upper limit of normal.
Not likely: Dostinex (cabergoline) is used to treat hyperprolactinemia (hormone to make milk) by stimulating Dopamine receptor in the pituitary gland. It may reduce time to ejaculation but not likely to reduce the refractory period. As we get older this time gets longer and longer. Maybe testosterone can. Consult your doc. Good luck. ...Read more
what does elevated LH and low FSH and above normal prolactin in men mean? My LH is 6 (1-9) normal, FSH 2 (1-9), prolactin 19 (0-11), TSH 3.84 (1-4.0)
Allright. Prolactin was 195 mIU/l, seems to be normal also. SHGB = 35.10 nmo/l. Only concern is low T. Should I just raise it with healthy lifestyle?
What to do if I'm a 22 year of man and had a check-up last week. My prolactin level is really higher than the usual. What is the function of the prolactin in man?
PRL in men: Hi. Prolactin (PRL) elevation in men turns off the pituitary drivers of testicular function; get lower testosterone and sperm production. Why did your doc check your PRL? Something you told him/her prompted that, or maybe a low testosterone level (which he/she would have drawn based on something in your history). Good luck! ...Read more
Taking cabergoline for increased prolactin level was at 485 went down to 33 within 5 months now prolactin is 35 why did it go up if I've been on meds?
Will fluctuate: Your prolactin level will fluctuate a little from day to day and even from different times of the day. If your blood was drawn every day for a week, there's a good chance you'd get a slightly different result every time. Not to worry...Going from 33 to 35 is hardly any change at all and you seem to be responding well to the medicine. ...Read more
Can serouquel 50mg increase prolactin heavily? I'm 26 male and started training again that's why the question.
Can potentially increase prolactin and seroquel (quetiapine) is no different in this respect. Having routine prolactin levels followed can prevent problems, however, the med would need to be discontinued or the dose is decreased in a timely manner if the prolactin level is too high.
It's a matter of close followup with laboratory studies with your prescriber. ...Read more
Please name some antipsychotics (in their chemical names) that don't increase your prolactin levels. I live in south Africa where doctors are not well trained, I usually have to ask for meds I researc
All can: All antipsychotics -- even the atypical ones -- can increase prolactin at least transiently. Http://www. Jfponline. Com/pages. Asp? Aid=602 the atypicals (risperdal, geodon, (ziprasidone) seroquel, etc) are less likely than older antipsychotics (haldol, stelazine, thorazine, etc) to do it, but at high enough dose, they will. ...Read more
Should not: If it has any effect at all, tyrosine should decrease prolactin. It is the immediate precursor for dopamine, which is released from the hypothalamus onto the pituitary and, among other things, affects prolacting release; however, the effect of increased Dopamine would be to decrease prolactin. Drugs that block Dopamine receptors (antipsychotics) can cause marked increases in prolactin levels. ...Read more
