How can I tell if my 1 year old son is allergic to whole milk?

Remove from diet: Milk allergy can be subtle and does not always show up on acute testing. A good way to determine is to remove it from the diet for a month or so and then reintroduce it. My daughter just turned one year old should I stop the formula and shift to regular whole milk? And how much milk should she be drinking per day(ml)?

My daughter just turned one year old should I stop the formula and shift to regular whole milk? And how much milk should she be drinking per day(ml)?

Milk: It is recommended to switch to whole milk at one year. The recommended amount is 2 cups a day (to provide adequate vitamin d) but not much more. When kids are "milkaholics" they actually can become iron deficient. I'd shoot for 2 cups (16oz) per day and stop there. (in a cup - get rid of the bottles too.). ...Read more

2% vs. Whole: 2% is fine as long as the child is getting fat in his/her diet in other foods (most kids do). If the rest of the diet is lean protein, fruits and vegetables then whole milk would be a better choice for age 1 until 2. The issue is nerve cell development. The fat helps coat the nerves so they develop and work better. No more then 30% of the diet should be from fat though. ...Read more

What is the best milk based formula for a 1 year old with constipation because of whole milk? We already tried 50/50, prunes, and dc said back to form

Unfortunately you sometime have to just do trial and error and find what works the best for your infant. A one year old can eat any food that you eat (but honey), and perhaps adding some probiotic to their diet will help.. ...Read more

Baby is 1 year old. Has had 8 oz whole milk in 12 hours. Now vomiting and 1watery stool. Should i be worried? Do i take her to hospital?

If she was able to drink milk before and now stopped vomiting and can keep water down, watch her. If she always reacts to milk, she may be allergic to it, go to the er. ...Read more

1 year old baby transitioning to whole milk, has been fussy, and has loose stool, is she lactose intolerant?

Possibly-: If she was on lactose-free formula and is now drinking regular milk, this could be a lactose intolerance issue. However, if she was on lactose containing formula, it is very unlikely she will not tolerate regular milk because of lactose sensitivity. I'd then look for something else new in her diet which could be the culprit. ...Read more
