How Can I Tell If I Have A Blood Clot In My Leg After A Plane Trip
I was just diagnosed with a DVT and a small clot in my lung. How soon before I can take a car trip (about 10 hours) if I am anticoagulated?
Soon.: Patients with a recent DVT (or pe) who are on anticoagulant treatment are at low risk of further clots. If taking coumadin, (warfarin) INR must be at goal (2-3). I recommend caution for patients traveling within 2 weeks of a new DVT or pe and slightly delaying things if practical. Dvt and pe can be serious and time to make sure that the correct diagnosis and treatment plan is in place, is needed. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
I had a emergency splenectomy 5 years ago in a week. What are the chances I have or still could get a blood clot from it? How would I dissolve them?
Would I be dizzy for 2 days if I had a blood clot or is it more likely from the head cold I currently have? I went on a long road trip.

Dizziness can occur from many different causes. Head cold is one of them. ...Read more
I had a blood clot in leg that broke away to lung. i stayed in hospital for 4 and 1/2 days. i want to know if it's okay to exercise a bit?
Depends: While there are no specific guidelines for when to resume the exercise, it depends on the amount of clot in the lungs and the legs (clot burden), how are your symptoms, and type of exercise you are talking about. Basic idea is not to exert yourself to aggravate the lung function when the clot is fresh, and not to let the fresh clot in the leg to move to the lungs. Light exercises Ok if tolerated. ...Read more
Not typically: If this is a "dvt" or deep venous thrombosis, management usually starts with blood thinning drugs. Surgery or catheter based therapies are usually reserved only for very rare severe cases. Arterial blood clots are less frequent. If this is an arterial blood clot (arterial thromboembolism), surgery may be warranted urgently to restore blood flow to the leg. ...Read more
